Before I go on with my stats, my race recaps for 2012 I have to say that I can't believe that 2012 is over! I just realized that my last post was more than 3 weeks ago!!! I guess I was busy... (BTW - I intent to complete my recap of our trip to Cuba and post updates of the holidays - afterall, this blog is also my scapbook of happy time!)
So - How far did I go?
2012 final distance (including running, elliptical, biking and going for walk):
2025Km / 1258 miles...
Compare to last year?
This is what I wrote for my 2011 report: "Total: 1965 Km / 1220 Miles! I did not think I would make it that far!!! Now that I know that... my goal for 2012 is to cover 1500 miles."
Well, I did not meet my starting goal of 2012 ... I think that was a bit ambitious...The positive : I improve and I was fairly consistent...
My "resolution" distance for this year: do as good as last year and try to push it a little further!
moment of 2013 : winning the Army Run Half Marathon with my Team... I did my Personal Best with 1 hour 38 min and 44 sec.
When I compare how far I come from, there is quite a change! Back in 2006 (when I started training again) I remember finding it difficult to keep up with Jeff... but he kept encouraging me and we had fun going for runs together (we still go for runs... but I keep going by myself after 5 or 6km... he is still trying to recover from hockey injuries).
In May 2010, I remember feeling so out of shape, I needed to commit to a personal plan. I sign up for sparkpeople and I got back to a training/running program with the only goal to complete another HM.
I ran my first "survivor"
at the 2010 Army Run.
This picture was on my sparkpage as my personal inspiration to keep going! I was very happy with my comeback - I completed it in 15 min less than my PB back in 2004! After that, I decided to
So back to 2012 - I turned 40 and I never felt better!
Running gave me the opportunity to travel to Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia (Canada) last May...
This race was a relay - here is my team
... and quite a challenge... (17 legs - 24 hours to cover 185 miles) of although I think I did not look too bad coming to the finish line after 20km of hills!
Finally, last nigh we ran a 5km Resolution Run as a family! This was a great event!
Here is Maggie (14) and Jeff at the starting line
... (they ran together and I went with Emma - my daughters run at different pace so with kinda split!)
I had fun running ahead a few times trying to take pictures! (in the dark!)
Unfortunately, I had no success getting a good shot at Maggie and Jeff. I have to say that it made me very happy that she ran her first 5km non stop and finished it with a smile!
My fitness goals for 2013 (beside the Go the Distance 2013):
1) Competing at the Canadian Forces Nationals for running in May 2013 and win a medal for the 10km Female Master Category. I would also like to do my PB (so below 46 min)
To do this - I sign up for a 10km in Feb as a qualifier race - The Winterlude - yeah a 10km in below zero!
2) I will run the Half-Marathon Army Run again... we have to defend our title!
3) I will run my first marathon ... the next day of the CF Nationals 10km... My goal here is just to complete it!... and maybe qualify for this category for the 2014 Nationals!
4) Not sure about a half marathon prior to May...
5) I would like to get a team together to participate in the Relay for Life in June.
Before logging off, I want to say thank you to my sparkfriends... You inspired me, motivated me, provided advices and support.
Sharing with you makes me feel connected !
