New Year - New Me (or so goes the idea)

I ate very bad yesterday and today was the sequel. We hosted our church family for New Years Eve and spent like 150 smackers on party food. And then the flu went around and only about 7 people came. So there was a TON left over today. I would've felt guilty either way, i tell you! We put a good dent into all of it and tomorrow we'll take it to the meeting and GET RID OF IT!

So tomorrow is a new day. I am ready to detox off the junk. Back to my healthy ways. I have tomorrow and Thursday off and then Friday I start back so hopefully i can get organized and focused and be ready to go back to work fully in the zone. The kids also will be back at daycare. It will be nice to have a bit of a break. We never ever ever ever get a babysitter. The only time I'm away from my kids is while I'm at work. So I'm planning to celebrate this free time with lots of cleaning and organizing and meal planning. The christmas tree is undecorated and ready to be hauled away. And then I'm going to take my brand new floor steamer cleaner thing for a test drive. The thrills never cease. Please tell me you all have one and they work miracles on your linoleum floor. I need this to be true.

And tomorrow we're going to join the Y. Woohoo!! I'm really excited!! I hope I can work up enough self confidence to do all the things I want to do like go to zumba and try spinning. I really wish I could get some new running shoes but i guess I'll have to wait till tax time for that. I wonder if running on the treadmill will be any easier on my calves. I guess i can put up with it for another month or so. I hope I will make myself go even though I'm working. I obviously don't want it to be a waste of money. I think that it could be the push that I really need right now. Right now I feel pretty motivated to get back on track. Hope it sticks around for awhile! I may not be hitting my goal when I first started out to but I'm definitely gonna make 2013 my most healthy year possible.

My main goal is to get to my healthy BMI this year which should be more than doable. I'd really like to be there by May.

I'd also like to run a 5k this year. I want to get my time around 30 min before I sign up. I'd probably settle for 35.

    You should try spinning and Zumba! They are both so much fun! I was so intimidated to start both of them but so glad I did. Spinning is my addiction right now and I am trying to go 2-3 times per week. I have never loved any form of exercise so it's a new feeling to me to actually WANT to go workout. Good luck and remember, it's just one choice and one decision at a time! Try to focus on the present and the small things instead of the big picture. Much less overwhelming! emoticon

    you got the confidence, now use it!

    Believe me when I tell you that I used to be totally frightened of the fitness classes, too. Zumba? Are you nuts?

    Once I figured one very important thing out it became VERY, very easy to do them.

    Everybody else is 1) just as self conscious as you and 2) entirely too busy being self-conscious to really give you a second look. Think about it, everyone at the gym is so wrapped up in their own heads that if they have more than a minute to pay you a second thought they're probably not doing it right!

    Go kick some butt at those classes and keep reaching for your goals!

    Don't wait too long to buy running shoes!! Also, I have a motto: never pay full price for running shoes. Okay so it's not really my motto, but I never have paid full price for a pair of running shoes. They can be crazy expensive! I wear New Balance and there is an outlet store near me where I buy discounted shoes. I never spend over $30-$40 for a good pair!

    You will love the Y! I go 6 days/week and really enjoy it. I feel lost on those days when they are closed (like the past 2 weeks when it was closed for the holidays). emoticon
