DH is really sick now, I cannot help feeling guilty.

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

I am still sick too I cough till I gag and my ribs still hurt. I did get medication and so did DH. He has slept all day long I keep worrying about him but I leave him to sleep.
I will need to wake him he has drank very little fluids all day long.

Tonight I saw a CVS pharmacist talking about the flu shot . It was on a video that came up on Spark. In the conversation it said that seniors should have 4 times the dose to protect them.

I will call on that tomorrow and somehow I would like to find out if we were both given the stronger dose. We have had flu shots since we came from UK and neither of us have ever been this sick. Maybe we needed the higher dose and it was not given.

I am still hoping he can have his surgery done but it will wait if he is not better. i want him healthy before the surgery. The shingles laid him low he lost a lot of weight and now he just does not look well. I will have to make plans for tomorrow but I doubt I will sleep very well. HUGS, my Spark friends are my strength. Thanks for being there. I have very little voice so we have not been able to call our over seas families. Their rates are very high I hope they assume we are with one of our sons HUGS again I am off to check on DH and go to bed.

Thanks to all of you. Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

So sorry to see that things have not changed yet. Have the doctors done blood work and everything to check and see what's going on.
Take care.

So sorry to read that both you and your hubby are so sick. That is not a good thing for both of you to be sick at once. Please take care of you so that you can be there for hubby.
I think all the flu vaccines have the same strength. I have heard, though, that up to 65% of the seniors who get a flu shot, don't have any protection, don't know exactly why but the theory is that their immune system just does not respond to it. Of course, you don't hear that on the mainstream media because the drug companies want to sell their vaccine!

So, big emoticon to you, and hope that the medications are relieving your symptoms a bit by now. Oh, and no reason at all to feel guilty, the virus spreads in close quarters, that is just the way it is........ emoticon

It is cold here in Ontario as well and we are expecting more snow. I am praying that you and DH will be well enough for his surgery. Stay in as much as you can and away from people. Drink lots of fluids as well. You have a lot of your Sparkfriends praying for you. You will do well.

Lots of fluids and take fever reducing meds or prescribed meds. The flu (or whatever virus you have) can take up to 10 days to recover. Be careful with a fever. Get lots of rest.

Hope you are both feeling better soon. (No need to reply, give yourself a break).

My hubby and I just recovered from this terrible cold/flu (whatever it is) over the past few days. I also had the flu shot which did not help me with this bout. I am sorry that you and your hubby are going through so much. I certainly wish you both a speedy recovery.

Pat, so sorry to read this! I am ill now as well, and DH feels he "gave" it to me, but I certainly don't feel that way. I have been lots of places that I could have encountered the illness, including the Urgent Care waiting room when I took DH last week.

I do hope you got some fluids down both of you and both of you are feeling better. emoticon

Oh Pat, my heart bleeds for you. I know how awful this thing is. I have had it for almost 3 weeks, coughing so bad I almost passed out..... However, my biggest problem was a sinus infection that blocked my wind pipe so I couldn't breath. I was at sis's from Monday aft through this morniing, and she gave me some echinea and it seems to have worked as I am starting to finally feel a bit better. But I am still exhausted and need more time to recover.

I hope the meds you got are helpful and that you are both feeling better soon. Take care, and get lots of fluids and rest.

Pat, I'm so sorry. It's not your fault, the flu is just really bad this year. I hope you find out helpful info about the flu shot. I'm thinking of you lots and sending big hugs.

I'm sending a multitude of get-well thoughts your way and I hope both you and Fred feel better soon. Pat, it is definitely NOT your fault that he got sick, there are a number of viral illnesses lurking around, and many people are sick now too, recovering from being sick, or about to get sick. Please don't waste your energy blaming yourself for something that is not your fault and that is beyond your control. You are doing the best you can to recover yourself and to take care of him, so you deserve a lot of credit, you are certainly a strong woman. emoticon emoticon

So sorry you both are feeling ill. But, you have no reason to feel guilty. Cold and flu germs are everywhere. Stores, Library Books, Newspapers, Mail Delivery, Doctor Offices, every thing you it is hard to avoid them. Getting a flu shot is the smartest way to help you avoid a few certain strains. And if you do get the flu, the symptoms will not be as severe. It is rare to get the flu from the flu's not a live vaccine. But every person has a different immune system...some compromised ones, Weakened by age, illness, Diabetes or other disease, will get longer lasting flu, or are more prone to picking one up.

You should check in with your Dr. report the length and what your symptoms are. He/she may prescribe a decongestant, or something to lesson your suffering. Other than that, it's just drinking lots of fluid, soups, broths, and resting and staying warm. emoticon emoticon

I'm really sorry to hear that you are both not feeling well.
When I get my flu shot, I always get it at the end of
autumn so I am covered when winter rolls in. Sometimes,
I still get a bad flu. We have to rest and drink lots of
liquids. I sure hope that your DH will get better soon.
Take care of yourselves. emoticon emoticon

Nora, it is not your fault that Fred got sick. It is just in the air. I had a flu shot, whooping cough and a pneumonia shot this year and haven't been sick at all. Knock on wood. There's been an intestinal virus going around the building the last few weeks so I hope it doesn't find me.

I hope you have a big pot of chicken soup cooking.

Feel better soon.

I hope the Medication is helping the both of You feel better real soon. Force fluids and get it out of your system. Don't feel Guilty or Bad that DH is sick. The both of You could have pick up this Virus being out and among other people in stores, doctor offices or wherever You went. It happens all the time people picking up things like this from other people. I would consider puting DH Surgery off for awhile so his system and body can recover completely and get built back up in much better condition. It would be much easier on him. The both of You are in my prayers. Hope You feel better soon. Take Care. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Praying for you! Get some Mucomist. It helps loosen us the congestion and makes it easier to cough up. I don't believe in flu shots and since I convinced my husband to stop taking them, he doesn't get nearly as sick as he used to. emoticon
