2013 opened cold and grey in E. Washington. After staying up late last night to share the New Year's celebrations with 1 million of our closest friends in Times Square, a bacon & eggs & coffee breakfast worked wonders.
This was quite the day as it marks the one-year anniversary of going gluten-free. I have not been perfect but I'd put my "performance" at @95%. I am very grateful for having made this decision as I know from both feeling and my physical exam/blood test that this has helped me become healthier over 2012.
To mark the day I kept the "tradition" (two years = two connectable data points = a tradition) of doing a long New Year's Day run. I ran six miles on a country road between snow-covered wheatfields. I saw one hawk, four snowmobiles, and otherwise had the place and the time to myself. Great!
Eating is going well. Bacon & eggs for breakfast and Hungarian goulash tonight for supper. While it's cooking we're going to watch a new on-line documentary called "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" with Dr. Robert Lustig. Should be informative. I promise not to munch a chocolate bar while we watch! Here is the link:
This is the final installment of my "Paleo Diet" blog series - I made my goal of 50 days of public accountability. I plan to keep eating this way for a long time and will keep on sharing from time to time, but I figure the world has had its fill of my daily dietary choices for a while. I want to say THANKS to everyone who has taken the time to read and comment and encourage. I've made new friends, learned a lot, and received lots of inspiration from your comments. I'll be staying in touch!
