God always gives us surprises

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

My pics are from yesterday. I have a lot of pictures, so I will have to do more then one blog. We headed out the door early, and took some pictures while walking Alice and Sarge. Seems a bit more snow fell while we were sleeping. Plus there was a bit of snow and ice in the field. This field is only 1/2 mile from us, and yet we didn't get any snow in our yard. Funny how that happens.

We came across this ice puddle. Looks like it has a face.

Further up the path we ran into ice. The creek runs through this area, so not unusual for this time of year. We turned around and walked back.

When we got back home I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw new rose buds in our front yard.

In the afternoon we exercised Huck and Meg's.

We decided to drive out to the west end of Leona Valley. DH thought maybe the Texas Longhorns might have been moved out there. Not one cow in the area at all. However, I spotted 6 Mule Deer, and made DH turn around hehe.

Right next to that field is a ranch that has Lambs, Horses, and Cows.

I love their house.

There were Sparrows in the field right next to me. They would fly and land on the fence, then go back to the field.

We kept hearing Meadowlarks singing. I thought "how funny, here it is the end of December, and I'm hearing Meadowlarks" I couldn't see them though. I asked Dh if he spotted any. He had just told me no, when one flew behind me, and landed on a wire not far from me.

We were disappointed that we didn't see any cows, but God gave us Mule Deers instead. Then the Meadowlark. They are beautiful birds, but so hard to photograph. Let alone the area itself is beautiful. I will follow up later with the rest of my pictures.

Man, you make photographing nature's gifts to us so easy looking! I cannot believe you get such great photos ALL THE TIME. Mine are always sketchy at best, but I am not trained, nor can I see that well!

And our foliage here in north Florida is confused as well. My blueberries are still standing with leaves for the most part, the maples are budding, the Christmas cactuses are budding still, and the hibiscus are still blooming! It was 71 here yesteday, but not even going to get close to that today. My sinuses are confused as well!

I hope you are having a great new year. And it seems you are. I love the pups and the pictures you always have for us. It's like a treat to visit your blog because I never know what I am going to get to see next!

Hugs to you and your DH,
Angela

    Happy New Year!
Icy puddles and rose buds and beautiful meadowlarks! I have missed your photos and your words very much.
I'm sorry I've not been here too much. I have a dx of CHF and that explains why I can't seem to move sometimes... it's frustrating. I'm trying to adapt. Not sure which way to go with that. My doctor is not too helpful right now.
Wishing you and your husband that this year will be wonderful for you, full of prosperity and health and happiness! Bless you! Love - Sue

emoticon The deer was too cool! And of course those charismatic dogs of yours!!! Great blog as usual! Love the snow in the mountains! Glad you didn't get any big snow!
We saw an Osprey guarding her nest today way up high-could see the babies heads moving. She was squawking. I got a video, but my zoom just is so disappointing! But, you could hear her!
Have a nice Wednesday!

My, those are brave roses to be blooming with snow so close! I love the sparrows, but that Meadowlark is wonderful. They're the Oregon state bird, but I hardly ever get to see/hear one anymore. The deer are a treat!

You got a couple of beautiful pictures of the Meadowlark. This is another bird I hear in the summer but don't see. We used to have many on the farm in IA. Thanks for a great blog. Awaiting the next one!!
