To be honest, I haven't had much success with New Year's Resolutions. Of course, I am sure that can be attributed to my lack of a clear plan to accomplish those goals and my all-or-nothing attitude. I do believe I have made progress on both points since the last time I attempted New Year's Resolutions. So, I am thinking I am ready to give resolutions another go.
As I look back on 2012, I didn’t make much progress on weight loss. At best, you could say I was in a holding pattern for the most part, that is, until December, when I totally chose to disregard everything I had learned about healthy eating. Something about “It’s the holidays” just kept ringing in my ears…
I am done slip-sliding through this journey, and i am resolved to put forth a better effort. My resolution this year is to be a healthier me.
I will start each morning anew and recommit to sticking to my healthy life-style plan one day at a time, day after day. I will strive for progress, not perfection. This is not a short term fix; it’s a way of life.
I will plan each meal, I will drink water like it is my job, and I will take every opportunity to move more.
I will end each day planning for the next, acknowledging what I did right, and reminding myself how far I have come.
When I take a step backward, I will own it and learn from it, keeping in mind this quote from Dr. Oz: "It's easy to say you're too tired, too stressed, too busy, too this or too that. Too bad. The only way you'll strip away the fat is to start by stripping away the excuses."
I can do this!
