New year, new goals, new me!

I have a problem with being a perfectionist. It is a really big problem in fact. So, in an effort to overcome this problem for 2013 I am quickly typing out my goals for the year and will post them right away. They may change and grow as the year goes on, but at least I will have something to start with, something to aim for. After-all, the key is to be moving forward because you can always change direction as long as you are moving forward. emoticon

This is the year that I want to finally achieve my goals. Not just work towards them, but do what it takes to actually get where I want to be – where I know I can be! My dream is to drop enough size that I can pose for photos when our youngest graduates in June and be proud of how I look. I have wasted so many once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities because I either didn’t take photos or hated the photos that were taken.

Cardio -

I want to get in at least 13,000 fitness minutes for the year. Get in some good long runs, but also some fun things like dancing, biking, hiking, etc. I also want to start snowshoeing, but I need to find someone to do it with me. This goal breaks down into 1084 minutes a month or 271 minutes a week. This is completely do-able even on super busy weeks.

Strength training –

Recent research has convinced me that this has to be a big part of my workouts in order to achieve my goals.
-At least 10 push-ups, sit-ups and leg raises every day. This is very achievable even on a busy day.
-3 Bowflex workouts a week – or I can substitute something similar if I feel like it, the key is getting in some good muscle building, sculpting strength training.

Healthy Eating -

This is also a big key to achieving my goals. I need to get serious here, but also make sure I maintain balance.
– Eat clean as much as possible. Home cooked meals are better every time! Cut out virtually all snacks and eat on a consistent schedule. This also helps my tummy feel better…hard to explain, but proven to be true.

Healthy Sleeping

My life is super busy, super hectic most of the time. But I know I need more sleep. I don’t do myself any favors by being so tired that I can hardly think. So in an effort to make goals that I know I can achieve, here they are.
-Get a good 7 hours of sleep (or more) at least 3x a week with one day of sleeping in on the weekend. I know this isn’t 8 hours every day, but believe me this would be such an improvement in my life.

Reduce Stress

This is going to be a tough one this year. I know this. However, I am going to work on savoring the moments, planning fun things and drinking a glass of wine and relaxing every once in awhile.



I think this is it for now. I look forward to the journey of this new year together! I have enjoyed reading new goals for my Spark friends! This is our year! Happy 2013!

    Those look like great goals! I especially like sleeping better. I am an extremely light sleeper. So any little noise or disturbance wakes me up and it is very hard to fall back to sleep. Which leaves me tired the next day. I want to make more of an effort to get better and longer sleep this year. Goodluck with all of your goals!

it is never to late to start.

my sister lost 105 pounds at age 63 walking 15000 steps a day.

i have lost 44 pounds by giving up grain and sugar products at age 60..

i walk 15000 steps a day.

i use a salad plate as my dinner plate.

i keep mandrtan oranges in the fridge. when the sweet tooth comes on i grab one or two tablespoons of the fruit.
