I just love New Year's Day. It is a fresh start. I love new beginnings but don't feel that I should forget the experiences and things I've learned along the way. It is a time to review the last year, celebrate the great moments, and also see how I can improve in the coming year. That being said, I have quite a few area that I want to work on. Here are my New Year's Resolutions and some ways that I will accomplish them.
New Year’s Resolutions
Improve my Health – Schedule exercise 5 days a week and complete at least 3, drink 6-8 glasses of water every day, plan meals and snacks ahead of time, track calories, track weight and measurements once a week, and journal 3-5 days a week
Improve my Finances – track everything, pick up extra shifts when possible, avoid late fees, take advantage of insurance to get hose, glasses, and teeth done before practicum.
Organize my Life – get all paperwork in order, transfer health card, get van inspected and registered, fax pei st loan name change docs, get passport, get on PEI sub list, process name change on house, complete income taxes before practicum, transfer name on credit cards, clean room a half hour 3-5 days
Professional Development – take advantage of university services such as fitness center, practice interviews, resume reviews, Organize assignment schedule in first week of classes, plan assignments with practicum in mind when possible, Get on PEI sub list, Get NS and PEI teachers cert asap, get on NS sub list upon graduation, search for teaching jobs weekly and progress to daily after practicum. Set aside 3 hours/week for PD. Before practicum, this could mean reading NS curriculum docs or unit planning, after would mean learning or researching PBL, Experiential learning or other teaching strategies I would like to try. Join the public library book club.
Thankfulness/Living in the moment - With Lavinia especially, plan activities to do varying in cost to take advantage of the local attractions. Highlight spots in the visitor’s guide and plan one activity a week
