Today's Dear Abby column was an "oldie but a goodie." Her daughter, Jeanne Phillips - who has taken over the column - reprinted the list of New Year's Resolutions which her mother adapted from the original credo of Al-Anon.

I would like to share the one which I thought I would try to follow this year:

JUST FOR TODAY, I will do something to improve my health. If I am a smoker, I'll quit. If I am overweight, I will eat healthfully - if only for today. And not only that, I will get off the couch and take a brisk walk, even if it's only around the block.

This is my primary resolution for 2013!

    This is a great reminder, Lin. Too many times I lose sight of the fact that I am living in the here and now and this is the only time I can manage...plan for tomorrow, but live in the day! Love and hugs for you in 2013! Jeannie

    This is an oldie but goodie. I used to read Dr. Abby every day and felt I learned from her wise advice. I didn't even know her DD continues that today. I only get a local paper and I've never seen her articles in it. Let's make 2013 our Year to get Healthier and feel better.
