Happy New Year to all my Spark friends.
Today is the beginning of the 30 day challenge, led by Mel (MELTEAGUE - see her blog). Last month it was exercise, this month it is food. I know I need to get my eating back on track, having gained nearly 5 pounds since the beginning of last year. Turning 50 is NOT an excuse, even if it probably didn't help...
So this morning it was time to face the ugly truth, step on the scale (up a little after last night's party) and get the measuring tape out. Oops... half an inch extra here and there, not good but at least I have a baseline.
One of the foods to give up with this challenge is coffee.. that is going to be a hard one as I drink at least 2 mugs (12oz) of coffee a day. On the bright side - it said coffee not caffeine! So this morning I brewed a pot of English Breakfast tea instead. Less caffeine than coffee :)
I know from previous experience that going cold turkey with caffeine can cause major headaches, so the plan is to switch to tea and than gradually to de-caf.
The real challenge for me is sticking to my meal plan and not nibbling between meals. Being accountable here should be a huge help! I know it worked with the exercise and the habit stuck - I feel stiff and achy if I don't start my day with a yoga session and (almost) feel guilty if I don't add a SP video :)
