A new day and a new year

Happy New Year dear friends. We had a very quiet one. Went out to eat and then home to warmth.

This is my time to get started on a new me. Weight was 178.5 this morning, hopfully by Feb. 1st it will be lighter. I have been reading and found some enlightening things to share.

Don't buy olive oil sold in clear glass. Light degrades the heart-healthy oil so look for olive oil sold in opaque containers.

Lose weigh by simple breathing more efficiently. Meaning to breath in and out throught both your mouth and nose during your workout so oxygen can help fuel your fat burn.

Don't use the middle stall in the ladies room. It is used the most and accumtlates more bacteria. The first stall is likely the cleanest.

Eat apples - they are one of the best fatgue fighting foods you can eat. They are a combination of nutural sugars and fiber.

This one is important to me - If you don't eat enough of the right foods, your body won't get enough of the nutrients it needs to stay energized. I have problems with this.

I need to see if I can find Almond Butter. They say if you swap it for peanut butter it can give you more bone-building calcium then peanut butter.

Th biggest culprits for salt are processed and packaged foods. 80% of the sodium in our diets are found in premade crackers, cookies, cereal,soups, frozen dinners and pasta sauces.

Dancing is a great way to get slim, healthy, and happy. It combines physical excercise, social interaction and the mental challenge of following new steps. Moving to music subtracts stress and adds joy. Its not work, its entertainment as it burns calories and fat. Thats why I love Zumba. A 1 hour class can burn as many as 400 calories.

Finally - put youself first. I know this is hard with family, but I am learning that I am number one. Make me time and everyone will be happy.

Now is the time to put all of this into action. My life and health will be my goal this 2013 year. The head is on straight again and I will not let this winter weather get me down. Threadmill here I come and thank God Zumba starts up again on Wednesday. emoticon

    A lot of good ideas here! Almond butter is by the peanutbutter and it is pretty expensive for a small jar. I am not ready to start using it, but I have used almond milk in my oatmeal.

    Excellent start to a healthier New Year. I found almond butter at my local health food store. Comes in unsalted as well. It is pretty tasty! Spark ON!

I am going to try Zumba this thursday! I am pretty uncoordinated!! I just hope I can hang in there and not make a fool (too much) out of myself!!
