January 1st - new day! 2013 - new year! The rest of my life - NEW ME!

Getting ready to begin my new journey. I was in church on Sunday and the Pastor stated that they will be doing a 21 day fast starting 1/17/13 and his preaching that day was about "How to get your edge back" (Spiritually) and I started thinking, ever since I became sick in 2003 I have lost my edge Spiritually, Physically, Mentally and Emotionally and I have not been the happy, healthy and active person I use to be many years ago.

I have decided to do a complete MIND, BODY & SOUL fasting/cleansing for 30 days. "I WANT MY EDGE BACK AND I DESERVE TO HAVE MY EDGE BACK"

For 30 days I will be eating all natural foods, fruits & vegetables, nothing processed, no sugars and the hardest of all "no caffeine" (my morning coffee that I love). This will be a struggle because the withdrawal process will be painful dealing with a migraine for the first few days without any medication but I know the outcome is worth it.

Also, I will be giving up the internet except when absolutely necessary for work and to log in my progress on Sparkpeople ONLY. No television/movies/radio, the only music is meditation music or christian music downloaded on my ipod. I will also be reading the bible and a motivational book during my quiet time (after the migraine is gone, of course)

For my physical part I will be starting with my walks again and slowing adding other activities as my body adjusts.

THE BEST PART: My youngest child, 20 yr old daughter is so excited for me that she has decided to do it with me! What better way to start the New Year and the rest of my life!

Here we go, off to the grocery store to get all our food and supplies, come home and prep, enjoy our New Years dinner and start our journey at midnight!

    So its January 15th we are half way through the month, where does the time go? I have had a few bumps in my journey. I got a horrible cold on New Years which lasted over a week, fever for 2 days. I was unable to give up my coffee due to the migraines but I did cut out the sugar and cream so I am very happy about that. Looking forward to the rest of the month hopefully I will be adding some exercise and getting my body moving.

    That's the spirit. My parents have just retired. My father drove long-haul transportation and working for himself for the past 10 years and my mother sat in that passenger seat and kept him awake all day and night!

Now that they are home and here with me for the Winter (they will go home to upstate NY in the spring and summer), and I have them out walking a mile each day. Yesterday they upped it to one more lap around the back yard, which puts them at 1.2 miles. I am so very proud of them getting their land legs back. And now they are also using the naulilus I have had for 15 years - its a 2-seater so you can workout with a buddy and it is helping both of them so much!

So I have promised to have a picture made this morning so we can all see where we are on Day 1 (yes, we are late, but we sweat too much yesterday during our walks as it was 71 degrees!) and compare it to where we are in 6 months.

And for the fist time, my parents are excited to go to the doctor and brag about all their exercise!
