Politicians, Pledges & Resolutions ....

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

What could a politician, a pledge, and a New Years resolution have in common? ....
Everything. The politician makes pledges and promises to the people in order to gain their vote. But once elected, are their promises carried out? .......... that depends on the sincerity of the one delivering the speech with the pledge. What makes it good?

One word: ACTION .......... One can only make their word 'good' when they fulfill the pledge/ promise they made. It's all recorded, so in time, we will see.
The RESOLUTION made my millions each year, usually RED HOT on January 1st
emoticon is only as good as the ACTION that follows in days to come.

I do not say this to rain on the New Years parade but I know because I have observed year in and year out ........... At the gym, membership is at an all time high in January. The place is so crowded, I avoid it until things settle down ........... and they always do. Sadly, when talking to the owner, she said, "Oh things will get 'back to normal' by March" ............

How can you and I avoid the pitfalls this year and make our journey successful?

We are all individuals who set our own standards and go at our own pace, rather than someone else's.
Here are a few guidelines I have made for myself to help overcome obstacles on this New Year ...........

1) -Short term goal first. I will start my plan to lose 5# ........... emoticon
2) Per Sparks blog on 12-31, weigh only twice a week .........
3) Keep my workout clothes ready to jump into once I get up in the morning.
4) Menu plan weekly, track often.
5) Drink my veggies. (Have Vitamix) so I will make more veggie drinks.
6) View my calendar for tracking fitness .... (the visual helps to see the time mount)

LAST: NEVER use the word TRY ......... (that leaves room to fail) ....
Like the politician who keeps their word or the person who vows in their Resolution ........... I WILL .......... carry out my personal action plan ...........for:
ACTIONS SPEAK louder than words! Action is the word that will lead you to success! And, if you happen to be a person who says, "I don't believe in resolutions" ......... then make your own goals w/ a plan and stick to it. Go for it and don't let anything stand in your way!

Night before, preposition workout clothes and make veggie drink either as breakfast or post workout beverage.

I go with a weekly weighin myself, but you gotta do what works for you. So many colors of the rainbow!

Maybe you need to try for a MOSTMOM1 style exercise streak: 10 min per day. She's been at it over 600 days!

I saw something that said "New Years resolutions are just to do lists for the first week of January". lol I like your idea of just setting goals rather than making resolutions. emoticon

So many years of failed resolutions. I think my problem is I don't really write out solid goals but you have inspired me to do it right this year!
