Ready to Start the New Year Right

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

One of the things I did not put down as a goal yesterday (but should have) is to spend an hour a day with my diet notebook. YES, I have an old-school composition book that I use daily.

But the hour is really just an umbrella for doing things like recording my food and exercise, researching recipes, Sparking, tracking goals, etc. Judith Beck of "The Beck Diet Solution" says you have to make time for dieting, and we all know that is right on. Sparking takes time. Planning meals and writing out grocery lists takes time. Recording and analyzing results takes time. Since I quit working I've got the time, I just need to direct it. I am looking for a countdown timer that I can put on my desktop so I can make sure I'm spending my full hour.

I'm pretty good about making the time to exercise, but not so good about planning or organizing or looking at the results of my efforts to tweak them in the right direction.

I had an AWESOME day yesterday and lost some good water weight as a result. Let the new year begin!

I plan my meals on weekends and use the SP calendar to send me a reminder. You are doing great in devoting time to making changes.

Thanks so much for the reminders -- in the past few months I've made time to record my nutrition and fitness and it's almost second nature now. Persistence pays off!

I'm writing about time for tomorrow's blog -- there's something about the New Year that makes one think about it and it's uses and abuses.

Happy New Year!

I too need to improve in this area, I struggle wuth journaling my daiky food intake. Exorcising comes very easy for me, perhaps this should become a new goal for 2013!

I, too, use a paper notebook. I LOVE writing out my meal plans and grocery lists, then crossing them off with notes on how to improve recipe results. Some people knit to relax, some play the piano, I sit down with my old friends--my cookbooks and food journals.

Happy New Year!
