A new year, a new beginning, a chance to start fresh

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

Happy 2013 everyone! I wish you all peace, love, joy, and wellness for the new year.

I love New Year's Day. I feel like it's a chance for a fresh start, for a new beginning, a time for a redo. I'm 42 and ever since I was a child I've always seen this day as hugely significant in terms of cleaning the slate.

So here are my intentions for today, to start this new year off right:

1. Get at least 15K steps
2. Work out at my gym for a very long time (see 1 emoticon )
3. Eat seated, slowly and mindfully until I'm sated but not stuffed.
4. Only eat when hungry.
5. Chew each small bite 20 times (whenever I do this, I'm amazed at how satisfied I am by less food and how much more enjoyable my meals are).
6. Get 7-8 hours sleep (I haven't done this in almost 3 months and this is a big goal for my new year).

I know that my health and well being are directly linked to the strength of my family. I need to have resilient health for them as well as myself. I'm so excited to start this journey, and though I've regained about 1/2 of the weight I lost, I feel confident that I'm not ready to release it again.

What are your intentions for today?

Again, my best wishes to you all for 2013! I know it will be a wonderful, fit year for us!!

Big hugs,

There you go again, reminding me of important stuff! I have to get some new goals, since I've moved above my goal weight. Not too much, and I know I will get back down, but the holidays certainly were full of food!

My best to you in reaching your goals, your list is inspiring as ever!

Wow....15K steps! I'm struggling to make 12K a day even when I go the gym and walk jog for a hour!

Good for you!

Great list!!

Inspiring blog! Today I will take down the Christmas decorations (it's been a great Christmas break); get out in some fresh snow for a lovely cross-country ski; enjoy a bowlful of my turkey soup; kick back and regroup for return to work tomorrow. Simple pleasures.

I am also starting over with a clean slate but will take it slow. Right now I want to get back into tracking and doing the 10 minutes of exercise.

Happy new year.
