January Goals

I really want this year to be my year to lose this last bit of weight. I'm not quite sure why it has become so hard in the past year. I am sure it is a combination of increased strength training, increased running, a plateau at the end of last year, and gradually getting closer to my goal weight. I think the last reason is probably the most likely culprit. I'm at the smallest size that I have been in the recent past even though my weight is a little higher. I got down to my size 10 clothes and since I feel comfortable it has gotten easier to slack.

For me exercise is not a problem. I don't stop exercising even if I eat horribly or go on holidays or have a change in routine. I have a workout plan and I stick to it pretty well. So my plan is to not set intentional exercise goals unless there's something that comes up I really want to focus on or challenge myself to.

I have cleaned up my diet so much in the last 21 months that making little changes doesn't really cut it anymore. Previously I could cut out soda, cut down on meals out or add veggies to my usual recipes and lose weight. Now that my diet is pretty good and I'm fairly good at meal planning I am needing to find other adjustments. I don't want to give up the few treats I allow. Although I think I need to be realistic about how many it is. I also think portion sizes need to be reduced.

With that in mind my goals for January are:
- Stay in calorie range 6-7 days a week by controlling my portions, only allowing myself desserts if there is space in my diet available, cooking and planning in advance
- Avoid snacks at work
-Avoid snacks and treats that I don't REALLY want
- Track everything
- Learn to use fitbit to eat within a realistic calorie range for my level of activity that specific day
- Add more incidental exercise by aiming for 10,000 steps a day minimum

I'm floating around 77-78kg most of the last couple of weeks. By the end of the month I'd really like to be floating around 75-76 calories. Time to post these goals somewhere I'll read them regularly!

    I'm with you and BIGPAWSUP about the "feeling good and slacking" too! But we can ALL do it TOGETHER! Here's looking to a great 2013. I am sure you will make your January goals :-).
