One day at a time

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

My goal today was to walk 6000 steps. Considering the sedentary nature of my job, this was a bit harder than I thought. By the time I was ready to leave work, I had only done about 3000 steps--and that was after taking a bit of a walk at lunchtime. Ordinarily I would have just gone home and said to heck with it but I am really trying to make a manageable daily goal and stick to it (and after all, it is only day 3). We have a fitness room at work so I hopped on the treadmill and walked another 2000 steps. My shins were sore, my legs were complaining--in fact much of me is sore from this new return to physical activity. I did a short walk after dinner and made my goal with a little to spare. That is why I am trying to do a little every day--and then a little more because I don't want to get so sore I get discouraged and quit. So--I am ending the year with a 3-day goal completion streak!!! Hurray for me. I'm alternating a fitness goal with a nutrition goal -one day at a time. Little changes, big results.
