I have been gone for some time... and here is the amazing reason why:
My son, Gunner, was born in November, gracing our lives with more joy than we ever imagined we were missing. While I was pregnant, I focused on changing my healthy habits toward drinking more water and eating more fruits and vegetables. I only gained 12 lbs while pregnant (which was very healthy for my weight), and am already 5 lbs below pre-pregnancy.
As of January 1st, I will be 6 weeks postpartum, and my doctor recently cleared me for exercise starting at the 6 week mark. It is simply serendipitous that it happens to fall on New Years - a wonderful day to start over, and make new goals.
For this year I am planning to re-vamp my healthy habits, and hopefully end 2013 with a sense of health and pride for having made positive changes. Any weight loss along the way will be wonderful, though I am trying to keep my focus on health.
I am also going to be making changes slowly, with a new commitment each month. For January I am going to re-commit to eating lots of fruits and vegetables. I'll start this by continuing my plan to order Bountiful Baskets each week and find some way to use up all the produce each week. It really challenges me to increase our fruit and veggie intake, try new things, and eat healthier. It also lowers our grocery bill!
I will also be starting to walk regularly again. My doctor suggested I start with only 1/10th of what I used to do, and work up to my 3+ mile walks over the course of 2 months or so. I will listen to my body as to what is healthy for me, and start slowly. The important thing is to build up a new habit. I'll be journaling my progress here, complete with yummy recipes if I find any!
