Today I got up and went to my private Kung Fu lesson with my teacher, Ms. Malone. The funny thing is that we both had birthdays this month, and for each of our perspective birthdays, we were in the school for my lesson. I can say that it is easier staying on track with my fitness goals having a great teacher like Ms. Malone in my life. She pushes me to work hard, but she never discourages me. She preaches balance both on the physical and mental perspective. It is this balance that will carry me onto the new year. I will work hard when I need to, and I will rest and let my body rebuild when I need to as well. At 7:00 P.M. tonight, I also did my weight training. So I had an hour of Kung Fu, and an hour of weight training, and I kept to my calorie count of 2000 or less (about 1600 today). In the morning I will walk the dogs (Woody and Edie, my whippet pups) for about 40 minutes, and the I will get in nine holes of golf with my buddy Chris. I may hit the heavy bag if I have time. For those who are interested, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are weight training days, and Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are cardio days. Sunday is when I rest completely and even eat without worrying about calories or sugar (so I get in my pancakes and waffles on Sunday!). If anyone ever reads this, let me know your fitness and nutritional habits. I would love to try anything new that will keep me on my road to better fitness and better eating habits.
