Sorry to hear you didn't have the surgery. I had a tear
in the medial meniscus in November and I know how
painful that is . Have a great February. emoticon

I hope you get some good relief! It's a shame they wouldn't do the replacement while they had you there, and I can only echo what others have said: get a second opinion, life is too short.
I'm happy to hear from you! I hope everything else is going good. Happy New Years!

Did the fact that you have osteoporosis play a part in the decision? I hope you are up and about soon.

I agree with Linda...is it more important to be painfree now at the prime of your life and to maybe be in a wheelchair later on....or should you sacrifice the present for the future...we don't even know if we will HAVE a future...I say go for it now. FInd a doc who will replace the knee. I had my first hiip replacement at age 47...and am going in for m y 5th surgery tomorrow. I don't know what the future holds...but none of us do!

I had a friend that had them at 50 and was at the health club every day trying to avoid it. At least all the work out led to a faster recovery. I pray that the Dr. have wisdom. emoticon

So sorry Stephanie!! This is not fair that he won't replace the knee! I was 35 with my first replacement and I have heard of much younger people getting replacements! A woman at my bridge club had no less then three hip replacements before she was even 50!! But unfortunately for her, they can no longer replace her hip anymore and she is permanently in a wheelchair -this is because there is no more bone left for them to stick the replacement stems in :( That is the main reason why they wait as long as possible for it to be done. But then you think, do you want the youngest years of your life wasted being unable to walk or enjoy life in constant pain? I did not want to give up my freedom and independence. Dr.'s here understand about quality of life. Maybe you need a second opinion?
It was good to hear from you! I wish that the New Year brings you better health, happiness and all the blessings of the season.
