Another Year-end Recap

Monday, December 31, 2012

Goal: Get back to my 2008 weight - lose those pesky 5 pounds
~ Sadly those same 5 pounds are still there

Goal: Concentrate more on proper nutrition
~My nutrition has improved a lot this year, looking to keep the trend going

Goal: Rehab. my ankle in a smart way
~There’s a whole blog or more in itself. I tried, but facing surgery on both ankles this year.

Goal: 18,000 fitness minutes
~Total for year was 15,853 – short of the goal, but not bad considering the injuries.

Goal: 1,000 miles
~Total for year was 622 – way short of the goal. Again injury played a big role, but probably overly ambitious anyway.

Goal: Increase running - build back up endurance and speed
~Yes and no. Prior to the ankles acting up again late July, I was on track but slowed significantly after that. However, I truly did run more and PRd my 5K time with a time of 26:19.

Goal: Race at least once per month (several shorter races)
~Although I did not race in the months of January or October, I did complete a total of 21 races this year - six half marathons, three 10Ks, one four-mile trail race, and 11 5Ks (race recap listed below).

Goal: Find a new ST program I will enjoy and benefit from
~This goal was a result of stopping my gym membership because of a huge price increase. After several months of trying different things, I joined a different gym and went back to my first love of Body Pump.

Goal: MORE stretching
~I have increased my stretching, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement.

Goal: FINALLY do the work to get the abs I want - I hate ab work and find every reason not to do it
~TOTAL fail on this one. I still hate ab work.

Goal: Sub 2:00 HM
~ Nope, maybe someday – maybe not.

Goal: Add 2 states to my racing list
~ Success! Added Ohio & Wisconsin for HMs (Also added Colorado for 10K distance)

That is one impressive list of races. I'm counting your year as an unqualified success. A pair of bad ankles and you still accomplished more than most people could even imagine. Go you!

We have similar running goals - and weight loss goals - except I like your 5lb goal better than my 10 for sure!! Thanks for all of your support this year :)

Wishing you much health and wellness in 2013!
