Coast to Coast Challenge

Monday, December 31, 2012

About a year ago, I saw how a fellow Sparker had a team of people doing a "Run Around the World" group challenge where everyone would log their miles to get "Around the World." I decided then to start my own challenge of a "Coast to Coast" type challenge, but I never completed this and lost the papers with all of my mileage on it.

Have no fear Sparkies! I have created a NEW route and starting TOMORROW I will start logging my mileage. This includes biking, elliptical, swimming, running, walking-- anything that logs miles while I exercise. Here is my route:

Start: Santa Cruz, CA
End: Sea Isle City, NJ

Santa Cruz, CA to Las Vegas, NV
o 511 miles
Las Vegas, NV to Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Village, AZ
o 324 miles
Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Village, AZ to Santa Fe, NM
o 478 miles
Santa Fe, NM to Amarillo, TX
o 285 miles
Amarillo, TX to Oklahoma City, OK
o 262 miles
Oklahoma City, OK to St. Lois, Missouri
o 526 miles
St. Lois, Missouri to Mt. Vernon, IN
o 150 miles
Mt. Vernon, IN to Charleston, WV
o 389 miles
Charleston, WV to Washington, DC
o 335 miles
Washington, DC to Philadelphia, PA
o 137 miles
Philadelphia, PA to Sea Isle City, NJ
o 66 miles

Total Mileage: 3,463 miles

This is going to take me a while, heck it might take me YEARS. I am so ready for this challenge! Every time I reach a point in my journey, I will let you know!

I hope everyone has a Happy, Healthy, and Safe New Year!

Sounds like a fun way to track, and a way to visually see your progress in another way other than weight loss! Happy New Year Sam-- make it a good one!

How super cool! I seem to remember at one point someone telling me there was a website where you could log mileage and a route and it would tell you cool things about where you were but I can't find it. Maybe if you google it you could find it and use it to enter in your mileage! Good luck!
