Between Me....

Monday, December 31, 2012

Right now, I'm at a Starbucks enjoying their wifi and and a venti cappuccino. It is quite tasty, even if I'm not sure how to spell it. Saw a movie earlier with the sweetie (she's on SP, but is not active) and stopped by a mexican place for some spinach and other stuff. Starting January 2, she's beginning a detoxification diet (nothing but smooties and spring water and the like...I'm dubious...I asked what toxins she would be getting flushed and she said, "Toxins". I felt like quacking like a duck, but I value my life.). She's working now and I'm planning the rest of my evening. I'm thinking I'll stop by my Dad's and check on him (90 years old and, I'm afraid, starting to slip) then head back to my apartment for some dvd watching. A Tim Allen mini marathon (Big Trouble and Galaxyquest--his only good movies) is a distinct possibility. A Sigourney Weaver film fest (Ghost Busters I & II, Galaxyquest, Paul, and Alien(s)) could happen. I also have the complete works of Monty Python, so that may happen as well. Then again, I could always take a nap....

However, betwixt me and my Dad's lies the gym. I haven't spent much time there recently. I want to visit it tonight, but I'm afraid if I sneak by to see my Dad, I'll end up napping in front of the tv. Nonetheless, I shall chance it. Go visit Dad, take a short nap, then hit the gym. Here's the hopeful sign in all of this: the gym is beginning to have a pull on me whenever I go by. It's open 24/7 and even this night, I can get there post nap. Then, tomorrow, I can get out for a run and perhaps another trip gymward. I think it will just take that first time. Going later tonight when there will be few people there should make it lest intimidating. Instead of just hitting the elliptical, I may venture into the land of resistance and strength training. This might work.

Perhaps my most memorable New Year's Eve was the one I spent with my dad going to a movie and the two of us walking home in the snow. Enjoy the time with dad.

All gymnastic/aerobic activity regards you with endurance on your bikes. Go for it, Happy New Year. The ball has fallen in NY, but here on the left coast there is more than 2 hours to go. Time to crash....(so to speak, sorry about that terminology..)

Happy New Year! Visit your Dad, hit the gym, then get more cardio laughing at Monty Python. Sounds like an excellent way to spend New Year's Eve to me. Just watch out for the crazy people out tonight.
