Old man Winter

Monday, December 31, 2012

I am not a cold weather person and when Winter comes I become a different person. I sleep and eat more and my moods represent the long dark days. I had to do something about this season called Winter.

Last year I made peace with old man Winter. I decided to embrace the cold and snow by getting xc skis. Well old man Winter developed dementia and we had a record warm winter. I went bicycling more then cx skiing, but the couple of times I used my skis I fell in love with this sport.

This year on Dec. 20th, old man Winter came howling in. He dump 19 inches of snow. I said "welcome I have been waiting for you" and others have said "ugh". I wanted to spend more time outdoors playing in this wonderful cold snow, so I bought a pair of snowshoes. Oh pure joy, love snowshoeing.

Now when old man Winter comes to visit I say "Welcome".

Happy New year Everyone!!!! emoticon

Excellant!!! This year was a little slow for me. We had 2 mild winter and I did not want to enbrace the cold. But snow was a present for me. In the years I taught my husband to embrace winter and snow. He was a great help. Yesterday we spent the day finding a snow storm and hiking, bird watching. Yes he planned his day to brighten my spirits.

YOu can have my share of cold, snow, ice, winter and everything that goes with it. I was born and raised in snow and I hate it. Especially shoveling it..
Embrace enough of that snow for me too!
Give me a beach, palm trees and swimming time... emoticon emoticon emoticon
