Goodbye, 2012. You were everything I hoped for...

There are people in my life saying "nothing good" happened in 2012. You know what? I feel sorry for them. They are so caught in the negative that they can't see the positive (and as a note, that makes people you met in 2012 feel really, really put down...)

You know what? My 2012 rocked! Did I meet every goal? Nope. But I met some. And I did things I never would have dreamed of!

500 miles run? Check! Even with taking the last 2 months of the year nearly completely off from running (thanks, knee), I crested that goal! This year I have committed to 1000 miles as part of the "Run to the Moon" challenge.

20,000 minutes of exercise? Not even close. Final tally was 13,480. Which isn't shabby! There were years in my past I could have had a goal of 500 minutes and not met it. That 13K is nearly 225 HOURS of exercise in 2012! Nothing to be ashamed of there.

Weight loss? I lost some. Not what my "goal" was, but that's okay. I'm healthier and more fit now than I ever have been. What the scale says is so small a part of the overall picture.

Both my career goals and my financial goals have been and are continuing to be met. My "fun" personal goals changed through the year as other things took priority.

What else? I ran 3 half marathons, joined the Half Fanatics, hiked 3 mountains (two of which were 4000+ footers in the White Mountains), ran countless 5K/10K/etc. races, increased my strength in clearly evident ways, and have made great strides in my healthy habits.

This year for the first time in a long time, stress wasn't a major factor in the holidays. NOTHING changed except how I handle things. I feel better, so I am far better able to cope with challenges.

So here's to 2012. It was an amazing year. I expect 2013 to be another incredible experience!
