2013-new beginnings

Monday, December 31, 2012

I have always heard that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. So this year I am taking that to heart. I won't make a new year's resolution this year, but I am going to make a plan for 2013. First thing on my agenda is to spend my day off on January 1st making my plan. I'm going to mark my intentions for each month on my calender. Then I will make a detailed plan on how to accomplish these intentions. Finally at the end of the month if I am successful I will give myself a reward. December started my exercise journey so I will spend the rest of the year perfecting that one(my reward was a heart rate monitor). I've already decided what January will be--I'm going to add at least one green smoothie a day to my diet, tomorrow I will make a plan and pick a reward for that along with all of the other months. I also plan to blog about my successes and setbacks (I was going to say failures, but failure means you have given up). I am hopeful that this year will be better than all of my other attempts to get healthy because this time I will have a plan. I'm sure my plan will change and evolve along the way as I learn more about my strengths and limitations, but this is a journey not a destination. The exciting part will be seeing all the sights along the way. Happy New Year everyone!

Great idea! Breaking your goals down to smaller steps makes it easier to follow your plan and not so overwhelming.

My basic plan is to lose that one pound a month every month so I can reach my goal weight by the end of the year. To do this I need to eat right and exercise every day. I will be rewarding myself also. I love rewards! For me it is reading a chapter of a book for small goals met and buying a new book for larger goals met. I love to read and at the moment I have plenty of clothes, so books work for me!
