I'm sorry, everyone, that I've been missing from Spark lately. It sounds like others are in the same boat, though, with holiday crazies and sickness going around (what IS it about this year, everyone is ill!). We also decided to increase our insanity and will be leaving for Walt Disney World this Friday!!! I am SO EXCITED!!!!! I've been there several times, although it's been five years since the last trip, and even now it is one of my favorite places in the world. I am such a big kid.
Because we only decided to commit to this trip a few weeks ago, everything has been happening very fast -- finalizing plans, packing, prepping the house, and organizing work for when I'm gone. Plus, I am a big Disney nerd and like to do lots of research before I go. For example, I am a sucker for all the little details that Disney puts into their parks that you may not notice -- did you know that on Main Street the shop windows were built lower to the ground than historically accurate because Walt Disney wanted kids to be able to look into the windows? Or that the red hue of the pavement was chosen specifically to make the grass look greener? (Yes, I am a fountain of Disney knowledge!) So I've been gathering all kinds of little tidbits so that I can look for little things like that and appreciate them, and find the out-of-the-way secret pleasures that make Disney awesome. This will likely be our last trip there for a while, and it's very important to me that I enjoy and absorb it as much as possible.
I've also been researching food. Food, food FOOD! Anyone who's been to these parks knows that temptation is everywhere, and I've been scouting the internet looking for the best (and most reasonable) meals that are still fairly healthy. Surprisingly, there seem to be lots of options. I am seriously going to do my best to stick to the plan, but I won't be tracking. If it's anything like our last trip, though, we will be craving more activity and less food, so I'm not that worried. I just want to go live it up for a few days! In typical ME fashion, I've been bouncing around the house, clapping my hands, and shrieking, "I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!" at the top of my lungs. Andy just smiles and shakes his head at me. He gets it.
Once we're home again, things should fall back into place and we'll return to a more normal routine. I just wanted to say I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas, and Happy New Year to you all! You've been a great support system for me and we all have a lot of success to celebrate from 2012! Look out 2013, here we come!!
