Breakfast Ideas

Sunday, December 30, 2012

I go to work most days very early...6:30am early..So, my dilema is trying to find something nutritious and healthy but convenient to eat. I prefer eggs for breakfast but I really dont have time to cook. I could get up earlier but I feel better with more sleep. All suggestions appreciated..

My son has learned to make an omelet in the microwave. I could ask him how he does it and pass it on if you're interested in that method. I usually have cottage cheese, greek yogurt or ShakeOlogy for breakfast.

I sometimes cook my breakfast the night before and warn it up in the microwave as I only like eggs, bacon, fruit, and dairy for breakfast.

How about hard boiled eggs, do you like them that way? I always keep some in my refrigerator for days when I don't want to cook breakfast.

On days I DO have time, I like to make steel cut oatmeal, and then top it with a chopped up hard boiled egg or a poached egg.

Protein shake is easy, but if you like your eggs in the morning and I do to try scrambling up a couple with some onions and peppers. store in container the night before, heat up in the micro for the early start breakfast. You can do this a couple of days ahead and portion out your servings for the upcoming week. Another Idea I use is to toast an english muffin and put the scrambled egg mixture on top with a small slice of cheese that I melt into the eggs when heating up in the micro. Spark On! emoticon

After my workout and before I get into my work at the office, I always have a light cheese stick and crackers. You could make some hard boiled eggs and have one with a Thin bun or better yet, a bagel thin. Yum!

I'd be happy to give you some ideas of what I like for breakfast...
1. A protein shake (can make it the night before and have it in the fridge)
2. Instant lower sugar oatmeal or cream of wheat with a 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese (I make the cereal with water instead of milk, then mix in the cottage cheese to make it creamier)
3. A mini whole wheat bagel with 1 tablespoon of weight watchers cream cheese and 1 slice of reduced fat cheese

I usually have one of those especially when I'm in a rush & don't have time to really cook.
I hope those ideas help!

Well try eating an inverted food pyramid....eat what you would have for dinner for breakfast and vice versa....Apparently we are supposed to be eating this way.
