Hoping tomorrow will find me better

Sunday, December 30, 2012

I have huddled and done the message boards I have only 48 spark points today.
No exercise since my head and body are hurting so bad. I think it must be flu. i do have a low fever today and my hair hurts too. I cannot comb it because it hurts so much,
As soon as I have my little chat I will be back in the spare room, hopefully to sleep.
My chest hurts to cough and I am wheezing. I had hoped every time I got up it would be better but that has not happened. maybe in the morning it will be better.
It is hard to swallow so I have used the salt water gargle. to no avail so far.

We had a lot of snow and I could not walk in the house never mind outdoors. I seem to have my Vertigo back, maybe it is just the effect of the sinus and ear congestion. DH went outside to dig us out and the ladies next door were right over with him. The three of them were able to do a fabulous job on the driveways. I am sure we will not be doing any New years eve cheers.
DH was going to get some new medication I threw away an unopened bottle of NyQuil it had expired and I said I would replace it but alas I forgot.
DH forget too and I did not want him to go out after dark because there were snowmobilers using our area as a race course. We looked out of the window earlier and one almost crashed in to the side a car. The snowmobiler thought it was very funny but our neighbour did not, that was for sure.
I am going back to the spare room and hopefully I will sleep it off.
Thanks for being there for me. I would much rather write this to my Spark friends if I write it to our sons I know they cannot do anything about it . We try very hard to keep our maladies to ourselves. I see no point in worrying them we all get these colds and flu so there it is out with my spark friends.
Yesterday I could not think straight to help myself but the things you reminded me of are the home remedies from my Grandmother and those I used for the children with mother's intuition.

It appears my intuition breaks down when I am seeking a remedy for myself.

Tomorrow DH and I will be replenishing the medicine chest. We all know that is If do that it will reduce the likelihood that DH will get this from me.
I sure hope it happens that way and after the 2015 expiry date I will happily throw it away once again.
More snow is forecasted for this week and we have the class for DH surgery in Portland Maine and I have the appointment in Waterville on the 3rd of January.

Good night Spark friends Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

We are under out third winter weather advisory in less than a week. I'm tiring of it but it is what it is and at least we do not have to go out in it for the next couple of days.

I hope you get a lot of rest and wake up feeling improved. Love you!

My Dad is a doctor. He said medications did not used to have expiry dates but the government decided they should... even though most medications have unlimited shelf lives and in fact third world countries will accept many expired medications. In his opinion at worse they might become less effective but they don't go "bad".... so now I don't throw away expired meds. We hardly get sick and it seems a shame to throw away a package that only has one pill used from it. I sure hope this does not last for you. You and your DH are a good team. We are home for the new year's ringing in too and probably will go to bed early while the kids stay up. Watched Lucille Ball's "The Long long trailer" last night. So funny. We could relate to so many moments driving across the country. Hugs to you and DH, Justyna

May I add hand sanitizer to all door handles, including fridge, car, toilet handles, FAUCETS, steering wheel, pc, light fixtures, teakettle, etc.

Vicks, chicken soup, cheerios for upset tummy)they absorb acid,as do soda crackers)
Prayers are the number one ingredient so I will make a big batch of them and spread them all around,, you should feel the effects soon! Love, Linda emoticon

I hope you are feeling better today, my friend.

We thought DH was going to be well enough to go to the "new" restaurant today, but he didn't, and I am glad that was the decision. However, he does think the Mucinex D has made a difference. Here in Missouri, we have to sign for it, as it is used to make meth. I myself have a scratchy throat and am pushing the fluids even more than usual.

I made a variation on chicken noodle soup today - chicken, cheese tortellini, and mixed frozen veggies - that got our required chicken soup for the colds, and our veggies at the same time! We have eaten so much soup in the past few days that I am helping myself not to be bored by experimenting with things I already have on hand. I may actually get up to make some homemade rolls this afternoon.

Happy New Year's Eve, my friend.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling up to par right now. Lots of colds and flu going around everywhere I hear.

I was sorry to see that you got our storm!! It sure tracked through the country fast. Since then we have had overcast days but not much rain. A chance to dry out. Walnut creek area did not do badly in the rains. Most of the downed trees and things were on the sea side of the mts. and the mountains themselves. We had local street flooding for awhile, but that's not unusual for here as there aren't that many street drains and the runoff from our roofs all gets piped into the streets.

Since you've had so many cold hints I'll add in ours....we have separate towels in the bathrooms and kitchen when someone is down with a cold around here.

Snuggle up in your blankets and have some chicken soup!! Get well soon!

My mom's best remidy for chest congestion was a mustard plaster..... She mixed some flour and mustard powder (not prepared) and made a past with a bit of water, then spread over an old diaper or terry towel.... I tried it on my ex once when he was really badly congested and discovered that if left on too long it can burn the skin. Imagine that, flour, mustard powder and it can burn the skin. Mom later told me that I should never leave it on for more than 10 minutes at a time but it can be repeated as often as necessary.

Why am I telling you this? Because I am one of the few people in the world who cannot use Vicks - it makes me break out in little pimples all over when I try to use it.

Sure hope you find a way to stop coughing long enough to get some decent sleep. It is hard to get any restorative sleep when one is constantly waking up from the coughing.....

Take care my dear.

I am sorry that your symptoms turned out to be bad. Push the fluids as best you can....you can dehydrate very quickly when not eating and drinking is the last thing you want. Honey in tea will ease your throat, also honey lemon.

Blessings are being sent your way. You and F are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sleep well and wake rested. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Pat,

Are you drinking hot tea? Tea has a lot of natural antioxidants. The ladies here mix up vinegar, honey and hot water for coughs and they swear by it. Uncle Gilbert swore by Blackberry Brandy taken just before bedtime for coughs. My mother used to slather our chests with Vick's Vaporub and then put a warm towel over it when we went to bed.

There are lots of home remedies out there so I hope something works for you. I heard a report about cough medicine and they said they don't work. I opt for the old remedies.

I hope you are well enough to go to the appointments. Did you get a flu shot? emoticon

Hope you feel better soon. Sounds like the flu plus rotten cold. All of which will give you vertigo! Take 2 Aleve or Ibuprofen, hot bath and then go right to bed.
