Can you believe Christmas has already come and gone?!?!?! I know time flies when you're having fun, but this is ridiculous! I feel like I just decorated the house, and tonight it is all boxed and ready to be put away until next "Black Friday."
I hope you all had wonderful holidays. Mine were terrific (though fleeting). Christmas happened to fall on my week at my parents' this year. I sneaked away before Daddy got up to go home and have Christmas breakfast and open gifts with my husband, children and granddaughter. This must be the first time I have driven around on a Christmas morning, because I was surprised and so impressed by the stillness of the morning. Between my parents' home and mine, I drive through one small business district which is usually bustling. Every parking lot was empty. The traffic was minimal. It was soooo still, sooooo peaceful.
One day this past week, in my quiet time, I read Isaiah 58. I was convicted about keeping the Sabbath day holy. As I recognized the stillness of Christmas morning, I thought, "This is how every Sabbath is supposed to be." I realize that the days of the week on which the Sabbath is celebrated differ for various religions/denominations. However, I am convicted to keep the day I recognize as the Sabbath holier than I have become accustomed to. This will be one of my resolutions for 2013.
Had hoped to write more, but I've got to head over to my parents' to end my week there.
Happy New Year, fellow Sparkers. Let's make it a great year!
