...it's over.

Can you believe Christmas has already come and gone?!?!?! I know time flies when you're having fun, but this is ridiculous! I feel like I just decorated the house, and tonight it is all boxed and ready to be put away until next "Black Friday."

I hope you all had wonderful holidays. Mine were terrific (though fleeting). Christmas happened to fall on my week at my parents' this year. I sneaked away before Daddy got up to go home and have Christmas breakfast and open gifts with my husband, children and granddaughter. This must be the first time I have driven around on a Christmas morning, because I was surprised and so impressed by the stillness of the morning. Between my parents' home and mine, I drive through one small business district which is usually bustling. Every parking lot was empty. The traffic was minimal. It was soooo still, sooooo peaceful.

One day this past week, in my quiet time, I read Isaiah 58. I was convicted about keeping the Sabbath day holy. As I recognized the stillness of Christmas morning, I thought, "This is how every Sabbath is supposed to be." I realize that the days of the week on which the Sabbath is celebrated differ for various religions/denominations. However, I am convicted to keep the day I recognize as the Sabbath holier than I have become accustomed to. This will be one of my resolutions for 2013.

Had hoped to write more, but I've got to head over to my parents' to end my week there.

Happy New Year, fellow Sparkers. Let's make it a great year!

Happy New Year - it is so amazing how quickly it all packs up and seems like a dream!

Glad you were able to find some peace this season. I agree with you about making the Sabbath or a Sabbath more holy - I'm trying to find a day when I can NOT use any technology...at least once a month I hope though I'd love to one week. I know I get more antsy when I'm near it and I know that defeats being peaceful and staying close to God.

To a wonderful 2013! emoticon

We were staying with Mom 24/7 since December 21 and on Christmas morning I was to take over for my sister who was driving to Asheville . I was driving at 4:45 am and it was difficult to see for the fog and I only met one car and that was in the small town of Walnut Cove where Mom lives. It did feel strange! Looking forward to the New Year and hoping to make some changes for good! Happy New Year! emoticon

I had to drive from my daughter's house in Clemmons to my home in Winston/Pfafftown Christmas Eve about 11:30 PM and then back over again around 7:30 AM Christmas morning. It was eerily quiet. Nothing was open, not even gas stations or fast food restaurants and I only saw 2 other cars on the road. It was wonderfully peaceful. The radio station I listen to was only playing Christmas songs since Thanksgiving so it was really a nice drive.

Sounds like a great start to your resolutions. I know there are great blessings for us when we do as we are asked, and keeping the Sabbath holy is a great place to start.

Happy New Year!
