The New Year is almost among us!

We all survived 2012!!! And to think that the actual movie "2012" scared the daylights out of me. I'm someone who can watch horror movies all day long, everyday....but put a disaster movie on...and there goes my stomach. Strange huh? Anxiety attack full force. I usually have to turn off disaster movies half way through, just to calm down. Anyhow, so I am glad we all made it safely through 2012. Now.....bring on 2013. I have big plan you know!

I am starting a new year in school, I'm making BIG changes with how me and my family eat, I'm attempting to find fun and creative ways to keep my family moving, and one of my goals is to make it up this hill that my kids walk up...without getting winded! I would also love to get my asthma under control. I think I just need to remind myself to take baby steps!

I am pleased to report that I have successfully talked a few of my close friends into joining Sparkpeople.com I also video chat with one of my oldest and dearest friends, and we both decided to meet up on video chat and work out together while our husbands are working. I think the buddy system works best for me. That way I don'f feel like I'm doing this all alone. Now, my hubby has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, therefore, he too, will need to get some sort of workout in as well. About a year ago, I was doing really well this this exercising video I had. My husband decided to join me and unfortunately, it was a little hard for him. On that note, we must start off small. Maybe walking??? I did see an interesting article in a Cooking Light magazine that showed different exercises couples can do together using only resistant bands and a basket ball. I cannot find the article online as it is from 2005. But lucky for me, I have the original magazine copy! I think that is my best bet to do with the ol' hubby! emoticon

    You could invest a few bucks in a Leslie Sansone DVD. She does basic walking in place exercises with a few other moves in them to get a total body workout. She has many versions out, right now I am using the "5 Mile Fat Burning Walk!" I can make it through the first mile and part way (a couple minutes) into the second mile. I try to go a bit further every time I do it.

    It's great that you are getting your family involved. I think that it is a great way to raise healthy kids with good eating habits.
