Today I was reading a book on sugar addiction and found that I have stress-related addiction and possibly a yeast over growth. Wow! I didn't know that my chronic "allergies" could possibly be correlated with my sugar issue. So I am reading the book and feel inspired to make some actual commitments to Week two and getting down on "paper" how I plan to reduce my sugar intake. I am cutting out/back soda and replacing it with tea. I will start with sweet tea with less sugar then normal and slowly cut back how much I put in it. Each pitcher of tea I make will have less sugar than the last. I am also going to work towards all whole wheat bread products. I plan on looking into healthy sugar substitutes (such as coconut sugar) and switching to whole wheat flour. When I get a sugar craving I will eat something with protein in it. It helped to eliminate nausea while I was pregnant so I am hoping the same will work with this.
Today I was wanting to eat some of the mini Reese peanut butter cups we have from christmas. Instead, I had peanut butter and whole wheat pretzels. Not necessarily The best snack that I could have had but it was a success for me! I did feel better then I would have if I had sugar. small progress is progress.
