I've been waiting for you......
2012 was a tough year. I lost my job of nearly 14 years. I started another job quickly, but then had shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff. After surgery, my shoulder froze, and I had to quit my job and go on disability.
2012, you gave me the gift of walking away from a career that I didn't love anymore, and forced me to slow down and take care of myself.
Many things became clear in 2012. I understand that I need to track my food to lose weight. I can't exercise the way I used to, so that means I can't just work it all off. 2012, you freed me up to have the time to cook at home and rediscover my love of walking and 1980's VHS videos. You also helped me distinguish between dear friends and people who don't value me. Most importantly, you taught me how much my husband truly loves me.
With my bad shoulder, my saying for 2012 is, "Everything's going to take a little longer, and it's going to be messier." 2012, I can add that saying to my retirement plans, too! I like to work, but can't sit in front of computer for hours on end anymore. So, I will slow down and work PT once I am able to do so. It'll keep me out of trouble for the next few years and will also allow me to continue to focus on my fitness and weight goals.
2013.....if I promise to apply the lessons I learned from 2012, can you please be a little more gentle with me? I'm still rehabbing that shoulder.....
