My Journey #39 -- Good Bye 2012 and Hello 2013

Sunday, December 30, 2012

2012 is coming to a close and soon it will be a New Year and new resolutions for all of us. I know that I have much to do that I'll mention further down, but first I wanted to update you on what's going on.

As you all know, I've had a great deal of health problems over the last few years which have bogged me down and this month (December) has been no exception. I have had a terrible time with swelling and retaining fluid and got a scratch on my leg which caused my leg to "weep" and somehow it got infected. The morning of December 18th (Tuesday), I woke up to a very red leg from my toes to my knees so my daughter took me to the emergency room where I was admitted with a high fever and a diagnosis of cellulitis of my L leg. I was put on strong antibiotics but by Thursday my leg was still bad looking and extremely red so they did an MRI and put me on even more antibiotics. At one point, I had five IV bags of medicine hooked up on the pole!

I kept hoping to be discharged but it did not happen and I did not get to go home until Christmas afternoon which I was very thankful for. I am still on two strong antibiotics that I take twice a day. I see my doctor this Wednesday for followup. I hope that 2013 will be a better year for me although I do have my big surgery that was successful to be thankful for.

New resolutions are on the horizon for me as my diabetes seems to be worse and my blood sugars are more affected by an occasional sweet than they used to be so I have to be more careful of this. I was given insulin several times in the hospital because of spikes in my blood sugar. Hopefully I can prevent this by being more aware of what I am eating.

Anyway, I'm hoping for a great 2013 and hope that it is a great year for you as well. Together with all our spark friends and team challenges I know we can make lots of good things happen this year. Take care dear friends and God bless you.

The important part is that you never give up! It would be so easy to do with all of the health problems. I think swimming at the Y sounds very beneficial. Glad to see you are finding a way to make it happen.

I'm thankful you are home and on the mend. Infections always make your blood sugar skyrocket out of control. As it settles down and your body takes care of the infection, the sugars will behave more.

Have a happy new year and may this one be healthy and successful for you.

I'm still standing firm believing for your complete and total restoration to Divine Health by The Power Of Our Lord's Blood and Body In Jesus' Name. I will not let go and you don't let go or give up on His Mighty Healing Power either. That's all I'll say about that...I'll pray to the Father further. YES enter 2013 the year of GREAT GRACE as I mentioned.

Ginger, so glad to hear that you are home. Everyone heals better in their home least I think so! I know you will feel more comfortable in your own space and no doubt it is quieter so you will rest better. May each day find you feeling better and better. Blessings of healing be upon you June

Kudos to you for continuing to fight for improvements to your health! You're one tough cookie (sugar-free and low carb cookie, of course!)

If you're on the powerful antibiotics you might want to ask your doctor/s about recommendations for probiotics to help your stomach and GI tract recuperate. I started taking an OTC pill a few weeks ago and my stomach, at least, feels much better. Don't think it's done too much system-wide yet, but I didn't want to spring for the expensive stuff without a test run first!

Here's to a great new year for us all!
