I don't normally make new years resolutions, so this isn't really one either. I'm going to make myself some promises this year instead.
I will end up getting to my weight loss goal, I did really well the first 9 months of this year, so the next year will be just as good.
I want to find new ways to incorporate yoga into my home fitness routine. I discovered that I enjoy it. The issue is that I don't push myself as hard without the trainer and I do well when I play the video games that have the yoga instructor. I have a couple of systems with fitness games that have some yoga on them, but they just aren't as intense as a game that might be fully devoted to the exercise. I think I may just have to start looking for a game that has a lot more yoga in it than the ones I have now. For some reason, someone telling me what I should be doing makes me work harder at what I'm doing.
I will continue to take my walks in the park and throughout the city to keep up the cardio. I need to work my way back up to a normal 2 mile walk because I've been lazy this month and can hardly do the one mile walk I normally have been doing lately. This just proves the use it or lose it mantra.
I will enjoy every moment with my mother GeoCaching. It a new thing we've found to do this year and it gets both of us moving for several hours in a day when we do it. There are still many local areas we need to find.
I will be growing veggies again this year on my balcony and the Burpee catalogue has new items that I can plant in pots. There's even a new hybrid corn that I can do several in one pot. I've already circled the plants I want, it's just the matter of ordering the seeds. There will be more tomatoes and I'm even going to try some carrots (there's this purple one I really want to attempt). I find it better and tastier to eat food that got picked less than 10 minutes prior to eating. I'm glad I pushed for a south facing balcony the last time we moved.
My herbs are still growing nicely inside, but I may add more to my collection this year. Herbs make for more flavorful food with minimal calories added. I want them all, but I'll have to do with the ones that fit in my space.
I'm basically going to make this coming year healthier than the one that is passing. I know there are many old habits I sill have yet to get rid of completely and I will be gaining new ones in their places.
I will find late night hobbies to replace the late night bored hunger. I may go back to cross-stitching as I can't possibly eat while doing them. I will work more on my painting, I haven't really done that in years and there are always new things to paint. I will rediscover who I am outside of being a mommy.
May your new year be a healthier one too!
