So I had surgery almost two weeks ago. Days 1 – 3 SUCKED. I couldn’t move well, I started coughing and thought I was going to pass out, and getting out of bed was a joke. But I slept through most of it. It is true, the more you walk, the better you feel.

I guess the main issue I am struggling with it, what is obesity?

To me, obesity was a feeling, not a number. I never felt obese until I had the surgery and needed people to help me. I am down almost 37 pounds and it feels like a joke; like my scale is lying to me. Yes, my clothing is a bit baggier, but not one has noticed. Maybe when I go back to work on Wednesday they will.

Congratulations, on your weight loss. 37 lbs is huge. I will be a year out in two weeks and I have lost 142 lbs. People did not say a lot at the beginning. However, my co=workers now call me the incredible shrinking women. I work in a large building and strangers stop me and tell me how wonderful I look. Just me the compliments will come.

Enjoy and embrace the journey. emoticon

Congrats on the 37! That's great. Also remember that it is the proportion of weight lost -- if my 8-year-old lost ten pounds, it would be a drastic and noticeable loss because the proportion to his little 70-pound frame is large. But I had lost 35 pounds and nobody seemed to notice it at all, which was very discouraging.

Be patient, my friend. You will soon reach a point where it is all anyone can seem to talk about with you, "You've LOST WEIGHT!! How did you do it? You look so GOOD!!!""

Soon. Just wait.

I too feel the same about the weight loss. I don't feel like it's noticeable but remember, if someone is seeing you everyday it may be harder for them to notice. Wait a few months from now and they will for sure notice.
37lbs down...that's AWESOME! Who cares if they notice-it's your weight loss and your life. Keep up the good work! emoticon

When I had my surgery it took until about 55 pounds before people really noticed. It was discouraging. But I've known several people who had the same experience. So, try not to let it get you down!!

Congrats on 37 pounds down! That is wonderful. The only one who needs to notice is you. This journey is about you. If you keep losing as fast as you are people will not be able to help notice. emoticon . It must feel good to be down 37 pounds...Best of luck on the rest of your journey.
