13.1 miles! T minus 148 days

Get ready for a jumbled mess of my thoughs!

I've decided that I needed to change my blog entry titles...I am not simply walking, jogging, running...I'm training for a half marathon (13.1 miles) in 148 days...

I've also decided that I am officially a runner..I really wanted to try out my sisters garmin watch, so I bundled up in the fresh falling snow and went out for a run! After the initial shock of holy crap why am I outside, I was ok...the second shock of the snow is pelleting my face kinda sucked, but once I to going and hot, it was all melting, so I was ok...the third shock of my pants have absorbed all the snow and now weigh eight million pounds was interesting...

I ran around a few blocks, only almost fell once, mad a little yippy dog seriously mad, and got a "wow, she's jogging" comment...not sure if it was a good comment or calling me crazy, but whatever, I'll take it...

As for my run, I wanted to prove to myself that I could run a mile. I did! In 12:30! I wanted to get to a mile and a half and I did! Then i got kinda far away from the house and slightly lost..I looked at the watch...1.71 miles...seriously? I will keep going! I was exhausted with a side stich thingy, my arms were numb, fingers frozen, face all sweaty and cold. There was snow in my hair, dripping down on my face, and I couldn't really breath. But I was going to make it!

I accomplished my first outside two mile jog in 28 minutes...it was quite interesting to see the graph of my run. I started out pretty strong and definitely got weaker and slower...making a 15 or so minute mile....

It's nice to know that I can do it..and I will do it...

I know I get frustrated and get a crappy attitude...however, I feel really different about this...it's a challenge and I love it...

This half marathon thing is working wonders on me...I'm actually excited about it, even though I feel like dying after I run..I convinced my friend who lives an hour ish from me to race together... I am currently working on a tentative list of races that I want to run...most are simply 5 ks but it will be nice to get moving, get better at running, and get to see my friend again..

I will be getting a garmin watch...I've been looking and some of them work on the treadmill, how cool is that?

I know that there are like seven hundred more things I thought to put on this post, but my mind is seriously drawing a blank...oh well,

Tomorrow should consist of another half hour run with my sister this time...hope I'm not too tired, but I will definitely be going in it...

    That's awesome I do not think I could run that far without stopping right now, Since you are into it now I will give the warning, make sure you have a phone with you at all times. I am doing outside road work, and in the miles I have done I have come close to busting my rear I would say a dozen times. If I had been jogging there is one spot I know I would of wiped.

Wiped out doesn't mean you will get hurt, but you don't have to wipe out to twist a knee either winter work is an art know your conditions, and have a plan if you do injure yourself. And keep it up. I am proud of you!
