Sitting on a stump and giving myself a talkin to

Saturday, December 29, 2012

I am saying all of this to myself. If it applies to you then I hope it helps you to have something to think about as well.

What is Commitment:

It is making the choice NOW! Later, tomorrow, or Monday, or January 1st is not commitment, it is something else....procrastination.

Commitment is a NOW decision based on the choice that will make me my warrior best. I am a warrior apprentice! It may not always be and usually isn't the easy choice. Easy choices create a life of being held hostage to a body that is not flexible; a body that has inflamed, painful joints with limited mobility; and, most importantly, a life that is second best to the life I want.

I refuse to be a sorry ***** person who weeps because they are suffering a life of self-indulgence. I will not be a victim of making the easy decision, or what seems to be the privileged life. I will choose to clean my own house, wash my own car, carry my own groceries to the car; and take the parking space at the back of the lot. It is okay if it is raining. I have a collection of usable umbrellas.

I have heard people whine that they can't do what it takes to get fit and lose weight. I have been there. Well, all I can say about that is what I read one time in a cartoon that said, :Do you have an hour a day to exercise or do you have 24 hours a day to be dead" or worse, living a life in pain and misery taking it out on everyone else because you choose the easy way? We each have the choice. yes, you might have a limitation or injury, wah wah. Push yourself anyway. Walk at the grocery store instead of using the scooter, park a further way and make yourself walk some. Push yourself. Do not be a victim. If you can not walk, do what you can plus a little more. I will think of all of you as I push myself to the limit as well and next time the limit will be a little further than this time.

My Sparkfriend said to begin my statements with "I can" or "I will" and I say, don't give voice to the negative. This is where commitment begins! If not now...when?

    I needed this. emoticon

I will be putting off starting a bit because I'm not home and won't be until after Jan. 7th.

I had planned to use some of this time away (I'm helping my brother who just had surgery for colon cancer) to get some favorite meals in place on my nutrition tracker so that starting when I got home would be easier - not having to spend a lot of time posting. I haven't done that yet. I will do it today so I'll have one less excuse when I get home. emoticon

I will be trying to do the same with my fitness tracker today as well.

Thank you for this great nudge, wonderfultobeme! emoticon emoticon

That speech you give yourself is the very some type of speech that i have been giving myself for about 9 months now. It works take it from me. I have to tell myself this just about every day, but it is worth the time to listen to yourself. Thanks for sharing . I am glad that I am not the only one out there that is talking to their self in this matter.
