I tried to keep DH from getting sick, alas I am sick. I did not feel well this morning and it's dow

Saturday, December 29, 2012

Another friend asked for advice about her cold, I told her what I do just today.
I woke up very early and did not feel right. Blood sugar was a little low for me so I ate breakfast and back to bed.

We had planned to go to Portland to take in the area where the hospital is. It was a good plan but it has not been implemented, another day we will try again. The promised snow has arrived and we will be staying home.

I ate a piece of dried fruit a friend gave me and I should have known better I began to cough and wheeze. Sulfites do that all the time and I just let my guard down. My new Dr suggested I need not fill my inhaler because I had not used kit in a year and it had expired I do have the Epipens and my throat is very sore.
I am about to go to bed in the spare room but I had to say goodnight to my spark friends .No fever just a bad cough and wheeze so far.

I usually do not use cough meds. I will use honey-SPARINGLY and will use some stinky Vicks, my Gran always used Vicks when we were kids. It has been around a very long time so it must be good.

HUGS to all Pat in Maine. Next year has to be an improvement on this one for certain.
I Will catch you in the A.M. !

All the Vick's recommendations have me wanting to go out and get some! I haven't had that in the house for a while.

Hope you are better this morning, my friend. DH says he is better, but he still sounds awful. I slept better, but am going to take it very easy today.

emoticon CHLOE453 beat me to the punch. It does indeed seem odd, but putting Vicks on the feet and then putting socks on really does ease a cough!

My Mom used to rub the Vicks into our chest when we'd get a cold, then we'd put an old T-shirt then a sweat shirt on and of course, we had the obligatory chicken soup. The chicken soup really does help!

Try gargling with salt water (1 Tbsp. to 4 oz. water) It really helps get the "creeping crud" off the back of the throat.

So sorry you're down for the count! LOTS OF HAND WASHING -- that's probably the test way to ward off passing on any germs.

HUGS my dear. Feel better.

I hope you wake up feeling better this morning. My Mom would use Vicks on us kids when we was growing up to. And then to Gardle with Salt Water. Then she would fix Chicken Soup for us to eat. Chicken Soup is very good for colds too. Mom would make us stay in bed so we would get plenty on rest and sleep. And Stay indoors where it is warm and don't get chilled. Hope You get over this very quick. Get Well Soon. God BLess You and DH. Have a Wonderful Week. And a Quiet Nice Day. Take Care. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure hope you are feeling better soon. For coughing you may want to try (yes this sounds strange) putting Vicks on your feet, then putting socks on. This will help with your coughing most of the time for whatever reason.

Hope you will feel better in the morning. Get as much rest as you can, drink plenty of liquids. And you're right about the Vicks. I so remember my Mom putting it on me when I was sick as a kid. I also remember her making me hot lemonade with whiskey and honey. Then she would make me bundle up with lots of blankets and sweat it out. Old wives tale, but it worked.

Good thought waves coming your way. Hope your symptoms are just a small deal and not a winter cold.

We had a bit of snow fall today...just enough to make everything look nice and clean.....then mucky on the streets. The snow is all around us.. and I'm glad about that. The wooded areas need the moisture buildup as the ground is so dry in the summer.

Hope there isn't too much snow for you to shovel tomorrow.

Sleep well my friend. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wow, after all that shoveling and fresh air the day before you should be full of vim and vigor instead of coughing and sneezing.

It think this calls for hot chicken soup.

Feel better soon!
