It seems that I am surrounded by pot lucks. Today the ladies had a pot luck. I'm invited to two more on New Year's Day. I'm getting the hang of coping, but it isn't easy to resist some of the goodies.
Today I took buffalo chicken meatballs [bought them in the freezer section] so that there would be some lean protein to eat. Glad I did. I skipped the casseroles and added celery sticks, a cracker and cube of cheese, salad and a banana to my plate. But I went back for dessert and got half of a large chocolate chip muffin. As I ate it, I kicked myself because there was also apple pie which would have been just as good and fewer calories.
Don't know what I'll take to New Year's Day yet. I have to think about what is likely to be missing in the healthy food department. Maybe carrot and celery sticks. I'm sure I'll be inspired before the day arrives. These really are a chore, but at least I don't take "a little bit of everything" any more. That's how I got to need Spark People. Now I pick and choose the healthy foods.
