Got up to shovel snow and spread salt. Both cars buried and had to be freed. Left to go to the funeral and found out the dates were wrong. The man was a WalMart greeter and always met me at the door singing old 40's and 50's music. He was hit by a drunk driver on his way home Christmas Eve and we were told that his body was so damaged that the family chose to have a memorial service instead of a funeral. How sad. But the dates advertised weren't correct...so I'll go back next week.
We came back to town and went to the anniversary celebration for a community couple who eloped Christmas Eve 75 years ago. They had 6 kids who were all there and also had 4 or 5 generations of grandchildren (including a 4 month old baby) with them for the afternoon. The place was jammed packed. The man had served 50 years as a volunteer fireman and both had been given volunteer outstanding citizens awards from the state during their lives. They are so amazing and until just a few months ago were out and about in the town...still volunteering at the hospital and charity events in the county. What an honor to know them.
We were home late afternoon and I've resisted a nap...but will probably go to bed early tonight.
Everyday is such an adventure! Life is a blessing!
