2013 Goals and Plans: A Fresh Start

Saturday, December 29, 2012

My goals/plans for 2013 (but with an earlier start):
1. I'm going by the fitness center near my work on the afternoon I return from break to sign up. Over the past few months I've debated whether to invest in some equipment for my home gym or to go with our gym membership. Based on everything from space to costs, the gym membership is the better option for me.
2. Running more and transitioning from walk/running will be a big goal for 2013, with my main goal being able to run the whole Chick-Fil-A 5K in May. I will probably sign up for it soon as a motivator.
3. Tracking "everything" in the Spark App I downloaded to my IPad.
4. No fast food, except for an occasional treat on my free days. During the past few years, I've eaten way to much of it. It's helped make me fat due to my lack of self-control.

You've got some fantastic and very achievable goals set this year. Getting rid of the fast food will do your body a tremendous amount of good! When we feel better on the inside we burst with energy on the outside. emoticon

Very nice Patrick..... you will definately be able to run that 5K. May is a long way away so plenty of time to just get after it and since I have been teammate with you a while, I know you can accomplish this - NO PROBLEM! :-)

We will have an amazing year.

I'm going to use paper/pen as well while I'm doing my workouts. This does seem easiest. I'll use the computer at work for most of the food tracking. I hope the 5K seems easy come May. It's been a while since I've fully ran one. 2013 is the year to make it happen.

Thanks for the confidence boost Kris....we have been teammates for a good while and I REALLY appreciate it!

Gym sounds great for you. You will be able to use the treadmill to help you with your running goals.
I'm not a fan of the SP app. It is very slow. But, then, I'm using a smartphone and minimal connectivity in my office. You might find that the IPAD is faster and you might have a better internet connection. (I'm still using a paper form and pen....sometimes it just works better for me than technology. )
You'll get to the place where that fast food tastes terrible...and you will TREAT yourself to a good Chipotle, or better yet, a lovely sit-down-chef-prepared-meal.

Sounds like very doable goals....you can do it. Working towards the Chik-Fil-A 5K in May will be awesome and keep you on track...in fact I bet that 5K will seem way too easy for you.

    Fast food is evil! emoticon

I've been debating a 5K myself but I think I need to lose a little more weight because of my knees. But sounds great. Keep up the great work.
