Whew! Taking Time to Breathe!

Saturday, December 29, 2012

This week has been pretty much a whirlwind of events! I survived the Christmas eve visit from my mom and sister. It was actually rather pleasant, primarily due to my commitment to limited contact. Keeps the drama limited!

I'm STILL battling bugs - not near so many, but even one cockroach is too many! Every time I get a sunny day off and plan to bomb the house, it's too cold to sit outside comfortably!

So I've been cleaning, working on projects around my house, and spending time with friends. I've even taken a little time to go check out the second-hand stores in town to see what's out there! Haven't bought anything yet, but had fun looking! Wish Bobbie Ann's consignment shop was closer - she finds really cool stuff!

I did buy a new security system for my house and should have it installed and active by tomorrow night. The old one is okay, but this one is much better! Also, I purchased a pot rack for the kitchen - My handyman will be installing that tomorrow, too!

Soooo, between baking (and eating) a crap-load of cookies (butter cookie Christmas trees; Viennese crescents with vanilla sugar), Chinese food on Christmas Eve; Ham with Mediterranean-style green beans and red potatoes), Margaritas, and beer, how much damage did I do to my weight loss efforts? I lost 1 1/2 pounds!! AWESOME!

So that's the news for now - I'll try to blog more later. Must go make breakfast - Buckwheat pancakes! Yum!

I grew up with buckwheat pancakes every Saturday morning. My mother would put out the batter on Friday night so the sourdough rise would happen overnight. We all loved them!
