Theme to All in the Family (Those Were the Days)

Saturday, December 29, 2012

I remember the show well. Archie was such a bigot! Archie and Edith Bunker (Carroll O'Conner and Jean Stapleton) sang it together at the piano.

Boy the way Glen Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made,
Those were the days.

And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men,
Mister we could use a man
Like Herbert Hoover again.

Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days.

Oh yes, I remember it so well!!! Now I would not watch it because of a lot of things Archie Bunker said but back then we thought it was funny a lot of times. I know I've become more sensitive about a lot of things since back then. I also remember when Gloria and Mike got married and had baby Joey, and they came out with a toy Baby Joey in the stores that was "anatomically correct" and the people that were so upset.

Ah, I miss Archie and Edith. And Gloria and Meathead.

That was one of the shows our whole family enjoyed together. (Archie was SO much like my dad, and Edith like my mom!!!!)

Thanks for the memories. Those were the days.

Archie was a biggot, but at least he was honest about it. Theme songs definitely speaks the truth.
