I have a cold with a fever of 101!! Help!

Friday, December 28, 2012

I like that I am usually quite healthy. Sick is hard, especially with a fever.
AT bedtime last night, I started coughing and by noon today, the fever was kicking in,

Resting all afternoon and pushing fluids did NOT do the trick. I feel rotten and I had to skip the Zumbathon..oh well, maybe next year.

Any advice would be appreciated......good night! emoticon

Hi there i was so busy keeping DH out of harms way and I went to do shopping etc. Needless to say I am wheezing and coughing and I had hoped I could protect him fro getting a cough or cold and here I am hacking away.
I will pop more EsterC and find myself some chicken Broth. Off to bed very soon.

Hope by now you're starting to feel on the better side. There are lots of viruses circulating. They do say the flu season's peaking early here. Much good advice has been offered.

When I get like that I drink much water, hot tea, and load up with fruit that is high in vitamin C and sleep as much as I can.

I am so sorry you feel so terrible. emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry to hear that you're sick. I have caught some sort of bug now too and the advice offered by these other sparkers is sensible and I'm implementing some of the remedies that I haven't already resorted to. Hope you're feeling better soon, let us know your progress! emoticon

    Aww.. sorry you're feeling miserable..
As long as you don't have muscle/body aches, you have a cold.. With a cold, you can have a fever of up to 101. You're doing the right thing by pushing fluids and resting. Try upping your vitamin C (the lozenges work great). As for the cough.. good old Vics does wonders.. Try putting some on the soles of your feet (wear socks) before bed time.. I know it sounds weird but it works to stop the coughing while you sleep...If you have a cool mist humidifier, use it..
    Hope you feel better soon!

Are you sure this is just a cold? My DH had similar sysmptoms and was diagnosed with the flu. They gave hime meds and said to use tylonol to control the fever. i fed him lots of chicken based soups, tea and had him rest as much as he could. It took a few days to whip the bug and begin to feel better.
I hope this finds you doing much better emoticon

Only thing that really helps is to stay in bed and sleep (though meds can ease the symptoms)
    Get better!

My Dr. recommends 12 hr. Delsym for coughs and it really does work. Tylenol, Mucinex, is what I stock up with to prepare for colds. You may have the flu, if you get worse by tomorrow, fever going up, call your Dr or go to urgent care. Call your pharmacist for recommendations too...he is as good as a Dr. about Meds! Take care, get well soon! emoticon emoticon

Chicken soup or broth does the trick for me. I also take ESTER C daily in the winter and double up to 2,000 when a cold starts. Watch out with the cough. HUMIDIFY the air if you can. emoticon HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I would be tempted to say that you have influenza, not a cold......those are the symptoms I had when I was sent home for a week by my doctor....rest and fluids are your best friends right now. emoticon emoticon

And yes, I did get a flu shot earlier this year, which is the first question the doctor asked me, emoticon emoticon Lynel

well if your doing a lot of coughing you might want to slowly swallow some honey, it has a lot of antioxidants in it and it works better then chloraseptic which is nasty and doesn't last. Just rest , drink plenty of liquids , take some vitamin C , cough meds and I hope your feeling better soon!
