New Years Eve Dress

Friday, December 28, 2012

Well, I was at the maul today. I never go to the maul. Pretty much EVER. I am not your typical girl and do not like shopping. I do not have a closet full of shoes. In fact I have my work out shoes, a pair of berks, my flip flops for taking a shower at the gym and well umm, yeP that is it. I can not wear high heels. I can not wear high heels when I am thin, I DEFINITELY can not wear high heels when I am fat. I was born with a dislocated hip when I was born. They had to put me in this weird contraption to fix it. My feet are flat and arched at the same time. Only half joking. But, my feet are a MESS! Oh sorry. I digress. Let's get back on track shall we. Okay so I went to the gym and the gym is in the same shopping area as a DSW shoe store. So, I wanted to get some shoes for the NYE party I am going to Monday. I got the cutest pair of silver sparkly closed toe flat shoes. They kind of look like sneakers but are all glitter fantastic. I love them. They will look great with the dress I am wearing AND they also look great with a cute pair of jeans. I am happy about it especially because they were on sale. Yay sale.

After going to get the shoes I needed some new Spanx. My old spanx are way too big (yes they are too big woot). So we went and braved the mall. While at Bloomingdale's I was very curious. I was curious if I could fit into "regular" clothes. So, I just picked out a dress that was beautiful in a size 14. It was a full length navy blue lacy gown. It was off one shoulder. It was absolutely gorgeous. And guess what? It fit!!! Not only did it FIT, it looked WONDERFUL on me. My tummy looked flat. The part that was "off the shoulder" looked sexy and not icky. I started to tear up a little. I came out to show my mom. She started to tear up a little. People asked what was "wrong". I let them know that in August I was 230 pounds and that nothing was wrong, nothing was wrong at all. :):) Now, I wish I could have actually bought the dress. IT was far from my price point (since my price point is about 5 bucks and it was over 200). But, it felt so good to get into it and know that I am able to fit into none plus sized clothes.

As it is I am going to wear one of my old dresses. It is a little too big on me, but I think it will still be pretty. :)

I hope everyone is doing well this Friday.

Well worth crying over! Did you take a photo of you in the dress so maybe you could get someone to make it for you (if you don't sew yourself)? If not go back and try it on again..
And congratulations. Its times like this that inspire us all to carry on...
