2013 Goals

Friday, December 28, 2012

The spine of the January 2013 Reader's Digest reads "2013 The Year of Optimism". I sure hope so! I am NOT going to be sorry to see 2012 fade away.

I live in SW Missouri, and so have joined the Springfield, MO team. One of our recent threads asked about 2013 goals and so I thought about what I wanted to do in 2013...here is the gist of it.

1. I want to return to goal weight. I have been lax the past couple of months, and have several excuses. I need to return to what I know works for me. Walking is my best exercise, even if it must be made in 10 minute intervals. Logging ALL food, not just being general works best for me, as well. I also do better if I am actively involved in a challenge, and I have taken steps to be involved in one shortly. I am not going to beat myself up for the past couple of months. It was a time of introspection, and was necessary for me on several levels.

2. I am going to continue with my "use up/repurpose" with "help someone out" mentality. For instance, I completed potholders for my DS today that used material from curtains I had made earlier in the month. I used leftover fabric materials for something that will please my DS. It's okay if the someone that I help out is myself, too. [There are also those quilt kits that I have mentioned more than once before. emoticon ]

3. I will eat more fruits/veggies. I could start this by eating fruit with my breakfast. This wil also help with goal #1.

4. I will encourage my Sparkfriends. emoticon We are in this together, after all!

2013...The Year of Optimism...I really, really like that.

I too won't be sorry to see 2012 go. Just hope that 2013 is a much better year. Have you joined the BLC? Hope that you have! I'm looking forward to getting back to my healthy eating as I've been too lax myself!!

So here's to us getting it back together!!!

Yes! Great goals for the new year! I also need to circle back to some approaches that worked for me in the past as some of the changes I've made in the past 6 months have obviously not worked. I enjoyed an apple at lunch today. Enjoy your fruits and veggies!

Great goals I especially like the reuse/repurpose one. Clean out and use up. I believe 2013 will be a better year for both of us. emoticon

Sounds good. Concrete goals, some new challenges. A return to those things that work for you.

Good for you.

OPTIMISM, I really need to focus on that, especially now. I have been worrying when H was sick so i reached out to Spark friends since our kids are far away and have their own problems. I have tried not to burden them but blogging to people I have never met has helped me to stay calm. DH slept and I wrote blogs. It's the only way because I cannot type very fast so I try to respond to everyone but i am not seeing who has blogs for me to read. I must find the way to make this a two way conversation.
I hope you and your family are doing well. I did notice you mention a yellow lab. I grew up with one and we adored her, I suggested to DH, who is a big dog lover, he does not care for "Little yappers" as he calls them. He thought about it and decided not to do this because we want to do some camping next year and he feels the dog would not be happy and of course his surgery is soon so I will approach him again when he is able to walk about Pain-free and can walk with me on the rail trail HUGS Tammy, Pat in Maine.     I like your goals Tammy. I have been thinking about my new goals, but haven't set them in stone yet. Wishing you Optimism to stay focused and motivated. " They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..." Good luck with your Springfield, Mo. Team. I haven't been there for a while. It's about a 3 hr. drive from KC. God Bless you.
