The Junk Food Cupboard is Bare!

Friday, December 28, 2012

Okay -- that's it! I can start my New Year's resolutions early -- as i just finished off the (gasp) LAST of the junk food*. Now my cupboard is rather bare .... no chocolates, no chips, no candy... but this is a GOOD thing! I DO have healthy options in my pantry ... and I need to shop tomorrow for some more appealing, healthy snack and quick meal options. *Okay, I do have a handful of those dollar-coin gold wrapped chocolate discs ... but I almost don't count them, because I really don't even like them much, and I'm going to put them on the top shelf, and I can have one or two if I have an absolute chocolate craving ... they're pretty safe b/c I don't like them much, and at least they're small, and I don't have many of them.

So here goes! DAY ONE --- here we are!! emoticon

Any suggestions from reformed snackers as to how you 'stay on the wagon' from junk-food snacking?

p.s. I know it would have been better to have given away the junk food instead of eating it ... but, well... I didn't. emoticon But here we go, now, toward healthy living!! emoticon

I personally have a couple T of M&Ms every day, and eat them slowly, but I know that not everyone can do that. Hot air popcorn is great..3 T of popcorn (before you pop it) makes a huge bowl and is something like 130 calories. Pickles are good, too.

Way to go! I haven't had any junk food in the house for a while, and it's made a big difference. Sometimes it frustrates me tho! I have to laugh, because on those occasions where I am determined to pig out, I wind up having to have oatmeal or something and it just loses something in translation. Awhile back I discovered the goldfish crackers I put in tomato soup...and got rid of them (like you, I din't give them away, but at least they are out of here now!) This week I was craving something and found a banana bread mix...that's gone now too! It had been there for eons--really requires incentive, giving how you have to cook it first. I keep all kinds of fruit in the fridge--fresh pineapple, etc and lots of citrus and apples. Most of the time these take the edge off. To be honest, it is seldom an issue of hunger--something else is nearly always going on when I am jonesing for junk. But at least now if I do resort to stuffing my face it is with food that doesn't do much damage--and since that's not nearly as fun, it doesn't happen all that much. Good luck, Sheila. emoticon

Well done but remember to have a little every now and then helps to keep you on track. You just need to make it part of your calorie intake that day.

Happy New Year
