I always say I don't want my new lifestyle to make me unhappy or it won't work. That means I can indulge at Christmas all I want. Afterward I usually "detox" as I call it, where I drink tons of water and eat normal or smaller proportions the next day. Key is to get in exercise, even when I feel bloated. So far, I've avoided the scale since Christmas. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
I didn't manage to get my run in yesterday, so I went today. I bumped into a bunch of runners from the Armed Forces Center getting together on the bike path. They parted the way for me like I was some kind of royalty. I was...extremely embarrassed, moving as slow as I was. Plus, I knew I would just be walking in about a minute. They started their run a moment later. I kindly stepped out of their way. :)
Usually the most exciting thing on my run is seeing a hawk with prey in its beak, the heron that's sometimes on the river, or the flock of geese that I end up scaring into flight. Still, those young guys were the only other people on the path today. It made me feel pretty hardcore to be out in the chilly weather.
Except I was wearing layers and they were in shorts.
Oh well. I'm trying, and that's nothing to be ashamed of.
