Laura had her tonsils out last Friday to clear her airway so she can breathe better at night and not snore.
When we got back to work on the 26th of December there was an email from another co-worker (Laura's son-in-law) telling how Laura suddenly lost consciousness and had to be rushed to the hospital. At that time, Christmas Eve, she was noted to have pneumonia, a collapsed lung and an infection. On the 27th of December, we got another email saying she was on dialysis and even her liver was failing. That was the last update we got.
Everyone at work is quite upset and saddened by this news. Her son-in-law asked us to keep her in our thoughts and prayers.
I am hoping some of my Spark friends can say a prayer for Laura, also.
I especially feel sad about this as I was one of the people (and her daughter) who encouraged her to get her possible sleep apnea checked out by the lung specialist at one of the hospitals owned by our employer. Her doctor said it was possible the tonsillectomy might take care of her obstruction and then she wouldn't need a CPAP machine. She was anxious to get the surgery done as she was chronically tired and her snoring was a real problem for her.
I have no idea why this "minor" surgery went bad but I have been praying for her and I hope I can encourage a few others to pray for her also.
